SANTA FE, N.M. -- Gov. Bill Richardson said he will support the Legislature starting impeachment proceedings against state Treasurer Robert Vigil. The state Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a request from the governor that would have allowed him to appoint an interim treasurer. State Treasurer Robert Vigil would have been able to temporarily step down with pay and have a gubernatorial appointee run the office. But the court has ruled unanimously against that.
