Twitter faced unrelenting backlash after blocking the spread of a New York Post bombshell that was highly critical of Hunter Biden on Wednesday, as critics pointed out the platform gave no such treatment to stories from CNN, The New York Times and other media with highly questionable sourcing. Chicago cops on Wednesday called Jussie Smollett a suspect in the investigation into whether he orchestrated a reputed hate-crime attack against himself and said he was being probed for allegedly filing a false police report. The department is “currently presenting evidence before a Cook County Grand Jury,” a police spokesman tweeted.

In yet another sign of evolving attitudes toward gender identity, venerable Smith College will begin admitting transgender women. Its board of trustees voted Saturday to clarify Smith's admission policy, said college President Kathleen McCartney in an announcement on Smith's website. The new policy will pertain to students applying in fall 2015 and thereafter who identify as women, even if they were born male.
