By now, word has gotten out about a 12-year-old boy in a Colorado school getting in trouble, temporarily, because of a small patch seen on his backpack. That boy is Jaiden Rodriguez, and he attends a charter school in Colorado Springs, Vanguard Secondary School. The patch is a small reproduction of the Gadsden flag. This flag shows a field of yellow with a coiled rattlesnake and the bold words, declaring, “Don’t Tread on Me.”

The historic Gadsden flag is at the heart of a controversy involving a twelve-year-old boy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The child was removed from the school due to a patch on his backpack featuring the flag. The school district defended the action and claimed that, despite its historical symbolism, it is now considered racist and connected to slavery. Not only is the flag a historical image originally unconnected to slavery, but the action (in my view) contravenes core free speech protections. The flag was designed by Christopher Gadsden of South Carolina in 1775 as a symbol of the defiance of colonists to British...

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — A quiet community was thrown into chaos in the early hours of Wednesday morning, as a tactical team from the Federal Bureau of Investigation staged a pre-dawn raid at the home of 6th-grader Jaiden Rodriguez. Reports indicated the boy's backpack, which has a Gadsden flag patch, was seized in the raid. "We have secured a highly dangerous item," said FBI spokesperson Chad Rookstool. "There was an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen in the area who reported a young man at this residence was in possession of a backpack that posed a threat to democracy itself....

VIDEO Thanks to a CLUELESS school administrator in Colorado, Gadsden flags are about to experience a YUUUUUUUGE sales boom. If the Gadsden flag triggers liberals so much that they want to remove a 12 year old school kid from class for the thought crime of wearing it as a patch, it serves as a big incentive to display more Gadsden flags because folks now know that it really really IRKS the left. The funniest part of the encounter was the administrator obviously not even knowing the NAME of the Gadsden flag since she refers to it as the "Don't Tread...

A Colorado schoolboy has been kicked out of class for having a Gadsden Flag patch on his backpack – despite the governor calling it a 'proud symbol of the American revolution'. Footage shows Jaiden, 12, and his mother talking to an administrator from The Vanguard School who claimed that the flag had 'origins with slavery.' The staffer claims that the patch was 'disruptive to the classroom environment,' as she claimed it has 'origins with slavery.' He was told that the patch, which has 'Don't Tread on Me' emblazoned on it along with a rattlesnake, was against the district's policy and...

The article is nothing new, BUT! ... I noticed something in the movie (OK, OK, I bought a copy and have watched it several times) I believe is worth mentioning: Towards then end there's a shot (likely in the Hollywood version of the CIC) where you see Hondo's left shoulder, and the patch he is wearing is the First Navy Jack patch, otherwise known as the Gadsden flag, complete with the snake. This scene occurs when Hangman is told not to launch, no search and rescue, etc. It's only visible for a few frames, but it's a nice touch. Also,...

When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently tweeted an image of what he said was a new state license plate featuring a coiled rattlesnake and the words "Don't Tread on Me," he said it sends a "clear message to out-of-state cars."

by Joshua Ford | 24NewsThe unveiling of a new Florida license plate by Governor DeSantis has liberals and leftist organizations up in arms.Liberals are constantly willfully misinterpreting traditional American and patriotic flags and symbols to try to associate them with “right wing extremism.” One such victim of this misinterpretation is the iconic Gadsden Flag. This iconic flag dates back to the time of the revolution and has been seen as a symbol of freedom, defiance in the face of oppression, and American patriotism ever since. Now, Governor Ron DeSantis has released a new Florida license plate which prominently features the Gadsden flag...

You’ll soon likely have another specialty plate to choose from in Florida. But this latest plate is already polarizing. Governor Ron DeSantis is promoting a Don’t Tread on Me plate patterned over a flag that was first flown on a warship in 1775 as a battle cry for American independence, but its meaning has changed a lot since then. However, the plates won’t be made available until 3000 people statewide order them. Then you’ll see them popping up on other cars. But already they’re raising eyebrows. The bright yellow historical flag depicts a timber rattlesnake ready to strike. Raymond Homand...

UPDATE: The man killed Thursday morning has been identified as 32-year-old Robert Tyler White of Bunnlevel, North Carolina. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said a school resource officer tried to stop White as White attempted to break into a police vehicle. White resisted and tried to take the officer's firearm, ALEA said. He was then injured by gunfire and pronounced deceased, according to ALEA, who is investigating the incident. The agency's findings will be turned over to the Etowah County District Attorney's Office once the investigation is complete. ----- From earlier: A shooting near a Gadsden elementary school Thursday morning...

Seattle’s Office of Police Accountability is opening an investigation into photos that circulated on social media over the weekend of Seattle Police Department vehicles adorned with Gadsden flags. On Sunday night, KTTH’s Jason Rantz Show posted three photos of SPD vehicles with the Gadsden flag draped across their sides, reportedly in protest of the recently implemented COVID vaccine mandate for city employees. SPD reported on Twitter the next day that it had forwarded those photos to the OPA for an investigation. It also sent along claims on social media that SPD officers had been “honking and giving thumps up” in...

Is it wrong to ask pilots to simply fly the plane and save workplace grievances for after hours? The operational woes for Southwest Airlines continue. Yesterday, the Dallas-based carrier cancelled 435 flights and delayed 1530, disrupting over half of its schedule. Already this morning delays and cancellations are ticking up and will get worse as the day progresses. We’ve speculated about the root cause of these delays…I won’t do that again today beyond saying that I am more convinced than ever that vaccine resistance is one factor in this string of operational meltdowns, even if just a small one. Instead,...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Standing atop a large dais being held up by dozens of American citizens, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Ilhan Omar unveiled a new flag they felt best represented the Democratic party’s goal for the role of government. Centered in the bright yellow flag was an image of a snake being squashed under a bureaucrat’s polished shoe, above the printed phrase, “Tread On Me.” “Americans don’t know what they want, that’s why they elected us, to make sure we make sure they act in their best interests which are our interests,” said Senator Schumer. “The most edifying words...

The Culpeper Flag is often mistaken as a modern variation of the iconic “Don’t Tread On Me” Gadsden Flag – and rightly so. What many don’t know is that the Culpeper Flag was inspired by its Gadsden counterpart, and both have become touchstones of the Second Amendment Movement. While remarkably similar to its Gadsden relative, the flag of the Culpeper Minutemen is arguably cooler – and significantly more obscure. While it has the same coiled rattlesnake and “Don’t Tread on Me” legend, the Culpeper Flag is white, it carries the additional motto “Liberty or Death,” and when historically correct, a...

Republicans await chance to checkmate Kelly on eight vetoed bills.. Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly vetoed two bundles of election reform measures Friday that would have restricted advance voting, eliminated emergency powers to alter voting procedures, added a new crime for turning in others’ ballots, and strengthened penalties for existing election crimes. Kelly also vetoed a bill allowing teenagers to carry concealed firearms after obtaining a state permit. It also would have automatically enabled people with conceal-carry permits issued by other states to take hidden handguns into public throughout Kansas, even residents of the 10 states that allow certain convicted stalkers...

It’s hard to miss the Gadsden Flag these days. Although it sprung back into popular American consciousness when the Tea Party first got its legs, this is a flag with a long and storied history. In fact, the flag is older than the United States itself. Back in 1751, Benjamin Franklin designed and published America’s first political cartoon. Called “Join Or Die,” it featured a generic snake cut into 13 parts. The imagery was clear: join together or be destroyed by British power. But why a snake? Around this time, Great Britain was sending criminals over to the colonies. Franklin...

by Jesse Mathewson · Published June 27, 2019 · Updated June 27, 2019 Of the many slogans that have been socially adopted by some as a banner, and others as the new evil to kill, the line, “Don’t tread on me” is easily among the top ten over the past few years. To find out what it means today we need to look at where it came from, and why.It is a flag, as well as a slogan, and I hope to help you understand it better.Rattlesnakes, in this case, the eastern diamondback and the timber rattlesnake, were both abundant...

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) mangled a famous Texas saying while delivering a speech on the Senate floor Wednesday so badly that he unintentionally praised President Donald Trump for the outcome of the Singapore Summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un. For generations, Texans have referred to a person who talks big but is unable to deliver as someone who is “all hat and no cattle.” New York’s left-wing “urban cowboy” reversed the words when he attempted to deliver what he intended to be a stinging rebuke of Trump’s historic accomplishments in Singapore on Tuesday. “This summit was much...

Roy Moore's penchant for flirting with teen girls was "common knowledge" and "not a big secret" around Gadsden, according to some area residents. The Senate candidate has denied any wrongdoing in the wake of a report from The Washington Post in which four women accused Moore of inappropriate advances - and in one instance, a sexual encounter - toward them when they were teens and he was in his early 30s. One of the four women claims she was 14 at the time, making her the only one whose claim would represent a legal violation. Moore has said he never...

A lawyer for an Alabama inmate put to death by lethal injection said Friday she is concerned his trembling limbs and labored breathing were an indication something “was not right” with the procedure. Robert Melson, 46, was pronounced dead at 10:27 p.m. CDT Thursday at a southwest Alabama prison, authorities said. Melson’s attorneys had filed a flurry of last-minute appeals seeking to stay the execution, arguing that the state planned to use a sedative that would not reliably render Melson unconscious before other drugs stopped his longs and heart. In December, an Alabama man coughed and heaved for the first...
