KARACHI, Pakistan — Bomb blasts near the U.S. consulate in Pakistan's largest city Thursday wounded five people, a police official said. One bomb exploded outside the consulate setting 10 cars on fire, police official Javed Akbar said. He did not know whether the wounded were attached to the consulate, or whether they were injured by the blast or the fire. Another bomb exploded about the same time in a parking lot of a hotel yards away, Akbar said. The blasts occurred days before a visit by President Bush to Pakistan, a key U.S. ally in the war against terrorism.

ISLAMABAD: Former US president Bill Clinton on Friday condemned the publication of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) caricatures by European newspapers and urged countries concerned to convict the publishers. Talking to reporters after meeting Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in Islamabad, Clinton said he disagreed with the caricatures and that the publication was against religious and ethical norms. December 8, 2005: In a good news for Pakistan Navy United States House of Representatives has given its final approval for providing USS Fletcher to Pakistan and other ships to Turkey, Egypt, India and Greece. This bill has been sent to President George Bush for signing after the parliamentary approval. The US senate has earlier passed the bill that will become a law after the president’s signs.
