Some of this is starting to creep into our forum again, hence the reminder. Debate the issues all you want, but please don't make it personal. Keep it clean, above board and above belt. Also, whether pro or con, keep the q stuff off our regular forum threads. Post it on the q thread in chat/conspiracy. But again, keep it clean, don't make it personal, no name calling, no attacks, no threats, no violence. Don't be a TROLL. Stay on topic, don't flame, don't engage in flamewars, feuds, cross-thread arguments, stalking or harassment. If you don't like the subject or...

Fox News host Greta Van Susteren announced this evening that she will be boycotting the 68th annual Radio and Television Congressional Correspondents' Dinner over the selection of a comic to headline the dinner who has repeatedly attacked Sarah Palin using vile sexual terms.Another pig….and a media association has hired the pig, Louis C.K., to be their headliner for the big media dinner? Really? I am not going. I refuse to go. Everyone in the media should join me in this boycott. The headliner of this year’s Radio and Television Correspondents Dinner is “comedian” Louis C.K. Comedian? I don’t think so....

September 2, 2011 There's a lot of good sense behind closing two famous and nearby military hospitals and merging them into the new Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. But just looking at the name reveals both what's good about this merger and what makes it so tricky. Walter Reed was a famous Army doctor, and for more than a century his name was on the Army's iconic hospital in Washington, D.C. Now that hospital is shutting its doors, and Reed's name will go onto the new hospital built on the Navy's flagship medical campus in Bethesda, Md., 6 miles...

Once again, I've decided it's time to rank the most popular political websites using Alexa.com... Do keep in mind that... 1) While I think this is a fairly comprehensive list, I'm sure some pages were probably left out. That wasn't intentional; it's just something that is going to happen when you try to take on an undertaking as massive as this one. All 125 websites are listed with their Alexa rank following their link. So for example, a "1" would mean the page was the most popular website on the net. A "50,000" would mean the 50,000th most popular page...

It all started in 1988. President Ronald Reagan's second term was ending, Americans were ready to launch the presidency of George H.W. Bush, and in Sacramento, California, a "loveable little fuzzball" stepped behind a microphone, replacing Morton Downey, Jr, and giving us his brand of conservative truth. It was astonishing. It was exhilarating. And it was unheard at the time. Before 1988, Americans had been treated with the nightly news from the "Big Media." The "Big Media" owned the airwaves of our televisions. Every morning, noon, and night we were fed stories, pictures, and commentary from a leftist press. A...

This week’s Monitor, as promised, features a listing of websites and blogs worth visiting, at least in our estimation and the estimation of our readers. Unlike our previous listing of favorite websites last September, we make no attempt here to rank the sites in order of popularity. The mere fact that a website appears on the list does not necessarily mean that the Monitor endorses everything on that particular site; indeed, there are a couple that made the cut in spite of some real differences — political and stylistic — between the Monitor’s worldview and theirs. Many reader favorites had...
