Those of us on the outside will ­follow every twist; it is a statement of the ­obvious that the entire world will be watching on November 4. But perhaps we shouldn't be. At least if my email inbox is anything to go by, we should have only the scantest interest in the ongoing US election. After all, it's got nothing to do with us. An America that disdains Obama for his global support risks turning current anti-Bush feeling into something far worse ...snip... If Americans choose McCain, they will be turning their back on the rest of the world ...snip... But what does that say about today's America, that the world's esteem is now unwanted? If Americans reject Obama, they will be sending the clearest possible message to the rest of us - and, make no mistake, we shall hear it.
