A campaign spokesperson for presidential candidate Michele Bachmann says a report documenting the severity of the Minnesota congresswoman's migraines is overblown. But, there has been at least one admitted instance of Bachmann being sidelined for days due to a severe migraine and other instances of her falling ill on the House floor. This morning, Bob Beckel appeared on the Fox News Channel to comment upon Helen Thomas' recent rabidly anti-Semitic remarks about Israel and Jews. To my astonishment, Beckel defended Thomas' remarks as "part of the free speech we Americans enjoy." When asked if Thomas should be fired by Hearst, Beckel went on to say that that was up to Hearst, but that the First Amendment guaranteed her the right to slander Jews and Israel while she worked as Grand Dam of White House reporting/commentary.
