David Chou, an American-educated Taiwanese, together with some pro-U.S. Formosan compatriots, raised the standard of the Formosan Statehood in 1994. The Movement advocates Taiwan's step-by-step integration into, and, political affiliation with, the United States, leading to full membership in the Union as the final solution to the Taiwan problem. Former National Security Advisor Brent Scowcroft said something very unusual and important in Beijing a few days ago. He said something like this: "Some people in America do think Taiwan is a domestic issue of the United States." As a pro-U.S. Taiwanese, I welcomed and appreciated his message. I have been supporting the Formosan Statehood Movement, a political movement calling for Taiwan's integration into, and, political association with, the United States.
