Trying to make a donation to Free Republic. Statement comes up on all cards, "Card declined." Have checked with card services on each card. No problem with the cards. Have filled the form in in various logical ways to just keep trying. No success. Wondering whether there is a problem with the on-line form.

"Let's go Brandon!" got its start exactly one month ago at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama, courtesy of an NBC Sports reporter who was interviewing driver Brandon Brown after he won his first Xfinity Series race. A crowd behind Brown was chanting "F*** Joe Biden." The reporter claimed the crowd was actually chanting "Let's go Brandon." And, thanks to social media, it went viral in a hurry.

Francis Schaeffer was a Christian thinker and author whom I have benefitted much from. In the 1980’s I read his book “the Church at The End of the Twentieth Century”and benefitted from the points he raised. Schaeffer pointed out that if the Church is to thrive in the ever changing world we live in, we must know the distinction between Form and Freedom. What is essential to the structure of the church (Form)? And what in church life is fluid, as regards organization , liturgy, practices, services, etc. ? Schaeffer taught that the true Church is structured around eight essential,...

The GOP's long-promised change is an offshoot of a tax overhaul last year that cut corporate rates and winnowed down the number of individual tax brackets. On Friday, the Treasury Department and IRS unveiled the new postcard, which will replace the current forms 1040, 1040A and 1040 EZ.

U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Wednesday that new tax forms, designed to make the filing process clearer and simpler for Americans, will be released next week. “Next week we will be unveiling the new 1040 and it will be a postcard as we promised,” he said during a press conference celebrating the six-month anniversary of the passage of tax reform. “Hardworking taxpayers won’t have to spend nearly as much time filling out their [tax forms].” The 1040 form is the U.S. individual income tax return. Republicans promised to simplify the filing process for taxpayers, famously claiming the forms...

An attorney reporting a change to ATF’s Form 4473 Firearms Transaction Record requiring gun buyers to identify if their “ethnicity” is “Hispanic or Latino,” says dismissing the revision as simply a move to standardize race and ethnicity on all federal forms is “a lame excuse” that ignores several key considerations. Evan F. Nappen responded this morning to follow-up questions to yesterday’s Gun Rights Examiner report about a revision to the gun purchase form that went into effect on Monday. “If this is just a consistency update, then it is to make sure every federal agency is consistent with their racism,”...

I don't know if George Zimmerman is guilty or not. I wasn't there. That's not what this post is about. I had already noticed that Zimmerman was always referred to as White but every picture I had seen of him looked Hispanic. I assumed that this the old "White on Black crime fits the narrative" trick of the media we've all grown used to. But it was brought to my attention that there may be an insidious official aspect to this matter that no one has mentioned. Look at this PDF file. Notice that it's located on http://www2.fbi.gov. That's as...

Remember when Democrats opposed to the war in Iraq became furious when it was pointed out that they were encouraging the enemy? Remember when Harry Reid said "This war is lost"? "How dare you challenge my patriotism?" was the cry of outrage heard throughout the land. "Dissent is the highest form of patriotism" went the axiom. With Barack Obama in the Oval Office, suddenly things are different. In today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Pulitzer Prize winning columnist and former editorial page editor Cynthia Ticker blatant calls Republican opponents of the START Treaty unpatriotic:

Researchers discover evidence for a new type of chlorophyll in cyanobacteria that can absorb near-infrared lightResearchers may have found a new form of chlorophyll, the pigment that plants, algae and cyanobacteria use to obtain energy from light through photosynthesis. Preliminary findings published August 19 in Science suggest that the newly discovered molecule, dubbed chlorophyll f, has a distinct chemical composition when compared with the four known forms of chlorophyll and can absorb more near-infrared light than is typical for the photosynthetic pigments. Chlorophyll f, which was extracted from cultures of cyanobacteria and other oxygenic microorganisms, may allow certain photosynthetic life...

Some things about the Eucharistic worship of the Ordinariates are already clear. Since Ordinariate clergy will be part of the Roman Rite, they will be able lawfully to use the Ordinary Form in a translation which will have received the recognitio of the Holy See – and I am of course thinking of the new ICEL translation of the Roman Rite. Doubtless many will use this rite, since (particularly in England) very many Anglican Catholic clergy have in the past used the OF. Those who adhered to more ‘Anglican’ forms – the Alternative Service Book or Common Worship – commonly...

Scientists in Norway have identified a mutated form of the swine flu virus that is raising concern because it was found in two patients who died of the flu and a third who was severely ill with the disease, officials announced Friday. In a statement, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health said the mutation "could possibly make the virus more prone to infect deeper in the airways and thus cause more severe disease," such as pneumonia.

Different Forms of Government When Benjamin Franklin exited the constitutional convention, a woman asked him, Sir, what have you given us? His immediate response was, a Republic mam, if you can keep it. Yet many Americans today have come to believe that America’s governmental system is a Democracy and not a Republic. The difference between these two is essential in understanding Americanism and the American system. Before we discuss political systems however, it is helpful to address the confusion about the political spectrum. Many people believe that the political spectrum places groups such as communist on the far left, fascists,...

LOS ANGELES - Scientists think they have solved the mystery of how planets form around a star born in a violent supernova explosion, saying they have detected for the first time a swirling disk of debris from which planets can rise. The discovery is surprising because the dusty disk orbiting the pulsar, or dead star, resembles the cloud of gas and dust from which Earth emerged. Scientists say the latest finding should shed light on how planetary systems form. "It shows that planet formation is really ubiquitous in the universe. It's a very robust process and can happen in all...

Human remains unearthed in Miami form picture of Tequesta Indian life By Madeline Baró Diaz Miami Bureau Posted January 19 2006 Ancient Florida history is meeting the modern building boom in downtown Miami, where archaeological excavations at two construction sites have unearthed 2,000-year-old human remains. Archaeologists said the discoveries are helping them piece together what life was like for the ancestors of the Tequesta Indians, who lived at the mouth of the Miami River in what is now the Brickell section of Miami. Archaeologists had previously found evidence of a village in the area, but not a cemetery. The remains...
