Georgia state Rep. Bobby Franklin (R) has sponsored legislation to force the state to conduct all monetary transactions with U.S. gold or silver coins. The "Constitutional Tender Act" argues that the Constitution "'provides that no state shall 'make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts.'"
