Pastor J.D. talks about how the world is becoming increasingly hostile towards God’s people and God’s Word.

Attorney General Jeff Landry is urging a federal appeals court to reverse an order that is preventing the implementation of President Donald Trump's executive order regulating so-called "sanctuary cities," arguing that such immigrant-friendly jurisdictions "undermine the rule of law and deprive law enforcement of the tools necessary to enforce the law effectively." "We have seen too many crimes occur against our own State’s citizens due to sanctuary city policies; which is why I have been actively fighting back against these policies since taking office," Landry, a Republican, said in a news release announcing that he had joined 10 other attorneys...

WASHINGTON -- No issue has torn President Donald J. Trump as much DACA -- that is the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program enacted by the Obama administration in June 2012 to provide temporary legal status to undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children. The White House has said that it will issue a decision on DACA's future Tuesday. As a candidate, Trump had promised his supporters that if elected, he would eliminate DACA on "day one." But after he came into office, the new president could not pull the trigger. "But the DACA situation is a...

The Republican Party has clashed with Planned Parenthood (PP) on a level that would equal any MMA death match. Republicans argue against funding PP because the organization is the principal source for abortions in the country and it is against the law to use federal funds for the procedure. PP argues it provides a multitude of services to 2.5 million different women and the money is used for services other than abortion. The Republicans miss the best reason to argue against funding PP. If you go to the PP website, you will see that the services they speak to are...

IÂ’m no saint, nor have I ever professed to be. There are too many people currently living who could give testimony to the contrary should I ever decide to, so I wonÂ’t here. With that out of the way (itÂ’ll make more sense later in the piece), there is an area on the issue of this countryÂ’s drug laws where Republicans could both do the right thing and win some support. LetÂ’s be honest: there isnÂ’t much to vote for in the in 2018 midterm elections. For Democrats itÂ’s all about not being Donald Trump. They arenÂ’t offering up much,...

There is a great line in the movie “Men in Black†that perfectly suits where I fear we’re heading as a country. After Will Smith’s character learns aliens were living on Earth, he asks Tommy Lee Jones’ character, “Why the big secret? People are smart. They can handle it.†Jones responds, “The person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it.â€It’s absolutely true – the mob and its accompanying mentality is one of the most dangerous aspects of human beings. And we’re seeing the rise of the mob as an acceptable political tactic. If it isn’t...

Someday, I hope, I'll sit a couple of grandkids on my lap and tell them about the days when Americans abstained from political violence and settled all our differences peaceably through the democratic process. Or maybe I'll pick a different fairy tale. Wednesday's attack on Republican members of Congress by a gun-wielding Bernie Sanders supporter was an occasion to wonder what we have come to when political differences are seen as grounds for killing. What we have come to, in fact, is the place we have always been. Our history is spattered with the blood of people targeted for political...

According to The New York Times, 10 moderates, 15 conservatives, and eight other Republicans would have voted against the Republican repeal and replace Obamacare bill. So, then, 15 or so conservatives made it impossible to pass the bill favored by nearly every other Republican and by President Donald Trump. If that is the case, what we have here is another conservative example of purism and principle damaging another major opportunity to do good. The first purist conservative example were the Never-Trumpers, who believed it was better for Hillary Clinton to be elected president and for the Left to have four...

While the election and inauguration are over, it seems, at least to me that partisan politics are as strong as ever. It spills over not only on cable news, broadcast news, internet and print, but also into daily conversations and interactions. As a firm believer of seeing a bright future for all Americans and working towards that future, I am going to ask you to suspend belief for a few moments. Image a country where "optimism, ownership and a sense of control" is pervasive. These attributes, according to Dr. Robert Brooks and Dr. Sam Goldstein in "Raising Resilient Children," are...

President Trump appeared to be pleased with the Democratic National Committee chair results on Saturday, tweeting a sarcastic congratulations to the victor, Tom Perez, and the Republican Party. Congratulations to Thomas Perez, who has just been named Chairman of the DNC. I could not be happier for him, or for the Republican Party!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 25, 2017 In response, Perez, the former Obama labor secretary, told Trump to wipe the grin off his face. He, his deputy chair Keith Ellison, and all Democrats are now a united front, he argued. Call me Tom. And don't get too happy. @keithellison...

Substance and style -- it's easy to get them confused or mistake one for the other. And they're never entirely unconnected, though exactly how much so is a matter of debate. That's especially true when it comes to evaluating Donald Trump's performance -- a word particularly ambiguous in his case, as referring to either oratorical style or policy substance. The new president's detractors see a would-be autocrat threatening freedom of the press ("dishonest media") and the independence of the judiciary ("so-called judge"). They see a barefaced liar or fantasist who maintains that his 306 electoral votes (two of which...

I had never heard of Milo Yiannopoulos until recently, perhaps because I don't visit some of the websites where his musings are published. Milo, as he calls himself because of the difficulty some have pronouncing his last name, was disinvited from this week's Conservative Political Action Convention (CPAC), the annual gathering of the right in Washington. Apparently the organizers were not bothered by Milo's association with the so-called "alt-right." CPAC withdrew the invitation only after a video surfaced showing him apparently endorsing man-boy relationships that qualify under the definition of pedophilia. Yiannopoulos has resigned as an editor at Breitbart.com and...

Well, it's not what one might think. They have a correction on an irrelevant point in a completely discredited article -- but at least it's right at the top: A front-page article on Feb. 21 about Senator John McCain’s record on lobbying and ethics, including his role in the Keating Five case, described incorrectly the reprimand delivered to three other members of the Senate in 1991 for intervening with government regulators on behalf of Charles H. Keating Jr. The Senate Ethics Committee rebuked the three senators for improper behavior, but under a parliamentary agreement the full Senate did not censure...

President Bush often insists he has to be the decider — ignoring Congress and the public when it comes to the tough matters on war, terrorism and torture, even deciding whether an ordinary man in Florida should be allowed to let his wife die with dignity. Apparently that burden does not apply to the functioning of one of the most vital government agencies, the Justice Department. Americans have been waiting months for Mr. Bush to fire Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who long ago proved that he was incompetent and more recently has proved that he can’t tell the truth. Mr....

We're not "not winning." We've lost. So declares Bush critic Frank Rich in Sunday runs of the NEW YORK TIMES. MORE Taking it all the way, this time, Rich writes: "The actual reality is that we have lost in Iraq." "The Iraq-Vietnam parallels at this juncture are striking," Rich explains, in an op-ed he has titled: "THE SUNSHINE BOYS CAN'T SAVE IRAQ." Rich declares: "As bad as things may seem now, they can yet become worse, and not just in Iraq. "The longer we pretend that we have not lost there, the more we risk losing other wars we still...

Washington -- When President Bush shakes 1,000 hands, Blake Gottesman is ready with the Purell. When Bush is in his daily intelligence briefing in the trailer on his ranch, Gottesman is on site to dog-sit Barney, the president's Scottish terrier. When a member of the White House senior staff wants a word with the boss, Gottesman is there to recommend yes or no. "People will say, 'Is this a good time to raise something?' " said Joe Hagin, the White House deputy chief of staff. "And Blake will say, 'Well, he's reviewing a speech right now,' or 'He's got a...
