The Republican Party has clashed with Planned Parenthood (PP) on a level that would equal any MMA death match. Republicans argue against funding PP because the organization is the principal source for abortions in the country and it is against the law to use federal funds for the procedure. PP argues it provides a multitude of services to 2.5 million different women and the money is used for services other than abortion. The Republicans miss the best reason to argue against funding PP.
If you go to the PP website, you will see that the services they speak to are mainly sex or birth related. The one category they emphasize that is not sex or birth related addresses various issues around cancer. As you may know many supporters of PP have applauded their mammogram services which are non-existent. They do offer Pap and HPV tests and many other services regarding cancer prevention and/or detection. The website provides solid information on the basics of cancers to be concerned about and uses that as a prod for clinic visits for examinations or tests.
The website has a thorough explanation of various different forms of birth control. They not only explain the various means of birth control, but the percentage of effectiveness of prevention they represent. For example, PP states that a birth control implant is 99% effective versus a sponge which is only between 76%-88% effective. They do recommend use of a condom on all occasions though that will not necessarily help prevent pregnancy, but will prevent sexually-transmitted disease (STD) infection. To their credit, they do mention abstinence which they state is 100% effective against pregnancy and STDs.
What is not emphasized and why PP originally received federal funding is planning for parenthood. In their various different topics for discussions, under pregnancy they have a sub-category called Considering Pregnancy. It has a nice discussion about considerations of having a child and the attendant challenges. I attempted to get a clarification from them regarding their emphasis on this topic, but received no response from PP regarding my questions.
One would think this would be their primary emphasis. After all, they are named Planned Parenthood. One would assume they were named that for a reason.
PPs federal funding began in 1970 when President Nixon signed the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act. The act provides for family planning services and family planning information.
Since they named themselves Planned Parenthood and they receive federal funding under an act that dictates the funds be used for family planning services and information, that should be their primary function. They should be promoting that as their principal mission to educate people on having children and when and if it is appropriate for the parties involved. Unplanned pregnancies lead to two very bad results for many people: an abortion or a child they are not prepared mentally, emotionally or financially to handle. The organization seems almost more reactive than proactive.
Planned Parenthood has a huge failure rate. In 2015, they saw 2.5 million patients and PP performed 325,000 abortions without allowing for how many were performed elsewhere. That is a 13% failure rate. Those results are stunningly bad. Think of any other major operation having that kind of failure rate. Think if airlines failed to deliver 13% of the bags with which people entrust them. That airline would be out of business. That does not even address the amount of unwanted pregnancies that happen with those 2.5 million patients that ended up with a child being born unplanned and potentially unwanted.
If you are a pro-choice person you might consider that an abortion is not a negative outcome. Many people who support PP believe there should be unfettered abortions available anytime during the birthing cycle. I dont believe that is the attitude that the vast majority of pro-choice Americans agree is optimal. I am pro-choice and I believe it is pretty clear that an abortion would not be the first choice in planning for parenthood. It is probably the last choice. It is a statement that planning failed.
The question then becomes why are we allowing funds to go to a private entity that has a huge failure rate and does not even prioritize the mission that the law dictates it should have. It is because PP has become a sacred cow for the Left in this country.There are sufficient other sources in most communities providing similar services. For the rest, we need to build a suitable replacement that meets the mission as defined.
Thirty years ago we never envisioned a life without Blockbuster, Woolworths or Pan Am. It might be time for Planned Parenthood to follow in that path.
It’s all kabuki theater. The GOPe only makes a show of “opposing” PP to appease the unwashed GOP base. Meanwhile, they continue to fully fund it.
How can the author be pro choice and accept the murder of human beings?
His and society’s moral code is evil.
The left likes to ridicule those of us not on the global warming bandwagon as “science deniers”. But it’s the left who are the science deniers, who deny that an individual human being is created at fertilization.
Just like their lies about Obama Care, "Elect us and we will destroy Obama Care!"
We did and they didn't!"
I have a brother in law named Bruce.
He’s an idiot too.
The best reason to argue for shutting down Planned Parenthood is because it murders innocent little preborn babies.
PPs federal funding began in 1970 when President Nixon signed the Family Planning Services and Population Research Act.
That kind of thing is why I'm an Independent. Republicans often support what the party claims to oppose. 47 years after Nixon signed that, it is Senate Republicans who are keeping Planned Parenthood funded, because they aren't really pro-life.

The kindly compassionate Clintons "forgot" to mention that they themselves opened the gates so that Planned Parenthood could traffic (and profit) in baby body parts.
(EXCERPT--WND.COM). Then-Pres Clinton is credited w/ opening up the market in fetal body parts. Since Clinton signed the National Institutes of Health Revitalization Act of 1993, fetal-tissue research has expanded into a federally subsidized multi-million dollar industry of selling human spare parts salvaged from abortions.
For example, the NIH budgeted $21 million in fiscal year 1999 for grants and awards for fetal tissue research. At the University of Washington, the NIH subsidizes the central laboratory for human embryology.
According to a lab notice obtained by WorldNetDaily, it can supply tissue from normal or abnormal embryos and fetuses of desired gestational ages between 40 days to term. Specimens are obtained within minutes of passage, and tissues are aseptically identified, staged, and immediately processed according to the requirements of individual investigators. The notice is signed by Alan G. Fantel of the department of pediatrics.
At the time, two organizations that profited from this growth industry were (the now defunct) Opening Lines, a business formerly located in West Frankfort, Illinois...... and Anatomic Gift Foundation, headquartered in Laurel, Maryland.
Opening Lines gives credit to President Clinton for opening up the lucrative business in fetal tissue trade.
According to Opening Lines, on January 22, 1993, Clinton lifted the moratorium on federal funding. This action created a great demand for fetal tissue and has made possible the development of treatments for individuals afflicted with serious diseases and disorders, says the sales brochure.
Both companies served as wholesalers for the marketing of baby body parts to researchers, drug companies, hospitals and universities. These groups harvest the baby parts from abortion clinics and ship them to their customers.
Opening Lines provides fetal tissue researchers with a fee for service schedule, which gives prices for each body part. For example, Opening Lines charged:
<><> $150 for a spinal column; <><> $400 for an intact embryonic cadaver;
<><>$75 for 8-week-old baby's eyeballs (40% discount for a single eye);
<><>$150 for two arms or legs; and, <><> $100 for the skin of a 12-week-old baby.
"A vote for me is a vote for a Fully-Fornicating Society. I'll order non-stop govt
aggression over the unborn.I will end the punishment of an unwanted birth."
===========================================
Hillary knows the genital-sniffing Planned Parenthood abortion worshippers who populate the Dem party are crazy over the Clintons.
Bill and Hillary are the living breathing embodiment of The Fully-Fornicating Society w/ none of the evidence of sexual activity.....the "nuisance" of an actual child being born.
Hillary and Bill successfully exploited Bill's ability to have sex w/ younger women. Bill gives sex-obsessed lefties a vicarious thrill....visions of the married, gray-haired Clinton getting a young WH intern to crawl under his desk to give him a BJ is better than Viagra.
The GOP fully funds Planned Parenthood for the same reason the Democrat Party does. Since PP’s goal for years has been the eradication of black people and other “undesirables” in this country, they all see this funding as an investment in the future of this country.
In a statement, the Justice Department said: The government alleges that between 2003 and 2009, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast billed and was paid by government programs, Texas Medicaid, Title XX, and the Womens Health Program, for certain items and services related to birth control counseling, STD testing and contraceptives when such items and services were either not medically necessary, not medically indicated or not actually provided.
===========================================
Planned Parenthood connived to dramatically increase revenues by converting a voluntary C-Mail program to a mandatory program. The Iowa clinics eliminated follow-up exams and mailed each client at least a 12-menstrual-cycle supply of contraceptives in three-month increments. To increase profits, Planned Parenthood began sending three prescriptions to clients every 63 days...a 21-day overage.
By the end of 2008, at least 7,000 Medicaid- eligible women were enrolled in the C-Mail contraceptive program. If they moved or refused the pills they'd come back in a brown mailer then sent to inventory. PP would slap on a new sticker and sell them to the next patient.... without ever crediting the first womans account.

TWO MAJOR POINTS:
(1) PP CLIENTS FODDER FOR THE LUCRATIVE BABY PARTS INDUSTRY......we need to determine what percentage of women given birth control who later came back for abortions. PP's game seems to be gulling sexually active women into thinking they're protected. The scheme to withhold examinations forces women back into their clinics for abortions....giving PP baby body parts to sell.
(2) GOVT FRAUD BY MAIL----PP using the US mails to pull off govt fraud needs to be reported.
REPORT MAIL FRAUD HERE:

DAILY CALLER---CIRCA 2015 $548 million dollars of taxpayer funds are sent to Planned Parenthood on a yearly basis. Another $612 million dollars earmarked for reproductive health services go to USAID for abortions abroad.
Senator Harry Reid, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest and a host of politicians have begun trotting out the you wish to destroy womens health services defense. Are they unaware that the Affordable Care Act provides for each and every service that Planned Parenthood does and all of the others that they do not?
Lest we forget, Planned Parenthood does not perform mammograms. They do perform cursory breast exams, which they call screenings, which most women perform on themselves on a monthly basis. STD testing, pap smears, prescriptions for birth control, can all be obtained from an actual doctor of obstetrics and gynecology through Medicaid, a plan through the ACA or at a free clinic of which there are over 9,000 operating in the U. S.
Planned Parenthood has begun circulating information to rally their supporters, some of whom are reeling with disgust from the latest allegations about selling baby body parts.
They claim that they see 2.7 million patients a year, and defunding them would leave a gaping hole in the reproductive health care system. Of course there is an alternative that is more numerous than Planned Parenthood and comes without all of the intendant human body part trafficking baggage: Community Health Centers.
According to Planned Parenthoods own website (accessed 7/19/205 before the so called hacking) they currently operate 666 facilities, some states having only one facility. In stark contrast there are 9,069 federally funded Community Health Centers operating in all 50 states.
Although the abortion giant has taken to whining about defunding efforts; dont be fooled, they are a formidable enemy. Planned Parenthood has assets in excess of $1.4 billion and excess revenue of $124 million.
The $528 million in taxpayer dollars amounts to roughly one third of their income.
Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards makes well over $500,000 dollars a year. Planned Parenthood is a funnel for taxpayer dollars to Democrats. In 2014, the abortion giant spent 15 million on Democratic candidates, which is why not one of the Democrats in the Senate or House is willing to join an effort to defund.
Obamacare permits individual state exchanges to award grants to Planned Parenthood, prompting the Washington, DC exchange to award Planned Parenthood $375,000 dollars of taxpayer funds, kind of like a kickoff gift to celebrate the passage and implementation of the ACA.
Americans have had enough of the excuses and whitewashing of what is clearly an organized crime syndicate hell-bent on selling human baby parts for cash. Instead of crushing unborn babies for their parts as Dr. Nucatola so disgustingly described, we should crush Planned Parenthood out of existence, by defunding it and prosecuting its executives for their criminal behavior.
This is exactly correct. Every damn one of them talks really tough, especially at election time. By their deeds we can see this is a hill upon which they are not willing to die, but instead are willing to watch and fund the continued slaughter of innocent lives in the wake of their pursuit of political power.
These are the worst. Those "conservatives" who pretend to defend the defenseless innocent, yet do absolutely nothing except compromise and continue to fund the 2nd Holocaust. Liberals were caught on video tape outlining the systemic sale of human body parts harvested for profit, and yet with control of the House, Senate, and White House, nothing happens.
Let's name names. In Nebraska, the GOPe/enemies of the innocent unborn are Deb Fisher, Ben Sasse, Don Bacon, Jeff Fortenberry and Adrian Smith. They all talked a good game at election time, but have all gone along to get along in the interim. Each of them will vote to increase the debt ceiling and continue to fund a government which enables an organization who's primary mission is the sale of harvested human baby body parts.
I hope I'm there to watch Jesus wrap millstones around their necks and toss them into the abyss.
If naming this organization required accuracy, it would be called Unplanned Parenthood Pregnancy Mitigation and Organ Harvesting.
But that's just like liberals, always naming things for the exact opposite of what they are or what they'll actually accomplish. "Gun Control", "Affordable Care Act" are just two other primary examples.

There is no line item in the budget funding Planned Parenthood. That is an HHS decision to distribute allocated funds for 'healthcare' to them.
Also don't forget that this that was passed and signed into law: Trump signs bill allowing states to strip funding from Planned Parenthood
Also don't forget that this that was passed and signed into law: Trump signs bill allowing states to strip funding from Planned Parenthood
I understand your point. Here’s mine, again. All 5 of these GOPe republican jackasses from Nebraska campaigned on defunding PP. All of them. So they should either pass a law that stops discretionary HHS funding for PP or shut the hell up and quit lying about it while campaigning.
