French authorities are investigating the theft of roughly 200 detonators plus grenades and plastic explosives from a military site in southern France. The thefts at the Miramas site, which is operated by a combination of military services west of Marseille, appeared to have taken place overnight from Sunday to Monday. The break-in came with France on its highest level of alert for terrorism following deadly attacks in January and June.

An Iranian 'diplomat' who was caught gathering intelligence on the Israeli embassy in Uruguay has fled that country. Ahmed Sabatgold, 32, a political consultant in the Iranian embassy in Montevideo, was suspected of being involved in placing an explosive device near the new Israeli embassy in early January, the Uruguayan El Observador newspaper reported Sunday. The FBI is looking for a man who lives in the San Francisco apartment where agents found a large stash of what appears to be the deadly poison ricin. On Saturday, FBI agents searched the apartment, which belongs to Ryan Chamberlain, according to KGO, an ABC affiliate. The FBI said Chamberlain could be armed and dangerous. A Georgia Tech graduate student who set himself on fire while apparently experimenting with bomb-making elements in his apartment last month has died, officials confirmed Thursday. Saamer Akhshabi, an Iranian national, had burns on more than 90 percent of his body following the February 4 explosion in his apartment near the university, where Akhshabi was studying in the College of Computing. The Montgomery Explosives Ordnance Disposal and base security officials at Maxwell Air Force Base are responding to a report of a suspicious package. The package, found during a routine inspection, "gave a positive indication for explosives", according to officials. Officials say the package, discovered around 10 a.m. in the base post office, is about the size of a box of blank checks.
