For years now, whenever someone would draw up a list of the most vulnerable incumbent governors in the country, Maine’s Paul LePage would be right near the top. Pugnacious, hot-headed, and occasionally vulgar, LePage was consistently underwater with his approval ratings, especially after he would make national headlines for telling the state chapter of the NAACP to kiss his butt or television viewers everywhere that a Democratic state senator always wanted to “give it to the people without Vaseline.” (SNIP) In the end, over 8 percent of voters cast ballots for Cutler, sealing Michaud’s fate. But a third-party spoiler only...

If you believed that Clear Channel had a carefully-constructed plan to rebuild New York’s WOR (710) into a younger-skewing talk-and-sports station, this morning’s developments should disabuse you of that notion. WOR raised plenty of eyebrows when it began the new year by replacing morning veteran John Gambling and his 86-year family legacy with Elliot Segal’s “Elliot in the Morning” show, simulcast with Clear Channel FM rockers in Washington and Richmond, Virginia. But as of this morning, Elliot’s gone from WOR without a trace, or much of an explanation. What’s going on? More than you’d think, including a lingering dispute over...

Several years and another lifetime ago (when I was single), I used to attend CBA (Christian Booksellers Association Convention) each summer, to meet with authors. At the first convention I attended, shortly after I joined Servant, I was particularly nervous about one meeting -- breakfast with Elisabeth Elliot and her husband Lars. Elisabeth is a veteran missionary and evangelical radio personality, a revered spiritual icon in evangelical circles (My mother nearly fainted when she found out I had met Elisabeth. "Oh, dear ... you didn't tell her where you go to church now, did you Heidi?") In point of...

Mart Green wouldnt be your first choice to be the driving force behind a movie, much less two of them. After all, until just a few years ago, the 42-year-old retailing magnate had never even been in a theater!

My wife just returned from seeing End of the Spear (opening night) with other ladies. She said it was amazingly powerful, and a must-see for all believers. For those who are not familiar with this movie, it is the followup to Gates of Spendor, about the five young missionaries martyed in Ecuador in the 1950's. After they are killed trying to reach this primitive and dangerous tribe, their wives approach the tribe and actually live with them for an extended time, bringing the Good News to them. They are now a Christian people, saved because of the incredible courage of...

Under pressure from Democrats, two television stations are reported to have dropped the ad by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that charges John Kerry has lied about his Vietnam war record. WBAY in Green Bay, Wisc., refused to run it, according to Human Events. And WTVG in Toledo, Ohio, dropped the ad after the Kerry campaign used a story in the Boston Globe yesterday to convince the station's management it was false, the Drudge Report said.

The Unpleasant Truth Behind the Awarding of John Kerry's Silver Starby The Bandit It is claimed that on February 28, 1969, Lt.(jg) John Kerry, as Officer in Charge of PCF 94 and Officer in Tactical Command of a three-boat mission came under ambush on the narrow Dong Cung River. It is further claimed they Kerry unhesitatingly ordered his boat beached directly in front of the enemy ambushes. Furthermore, it is claimed that PCF gunners left their assigned positions to capture "many...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Communications Commission said on Friday that Clear Channel Communications Inc. should pay the maximum penalty of nearly $250,000 for airing a sexually explicit radio broadcast. Clear Channel, the nation's largest radio-station owner, should pay $247,500 -- the maximum indecency fine allowable by law -- for an episode of "Elliot in the Morning" that aired on stations in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Delaware, the FCC said. A Clear Channel official said the company would investigate the situation. "If we made a mistake, we'll certainly live with the consequences," said Andrew Levin, Clear Channel executive vice president...
