Have you noted the shining faces of RINOs on broadcast TV in the past few days? Do they not look relieved? Their grins are wide, their auras shimmering with greed and power. They are back in command. And damned happy about it too. Did we really think that the people in power could afford a resounding victory for populists? Many of them belong in jail, all of them are on the take, from county councilor to lobbyist to senior bureaucrat to judge, and most of them live their lives swinging between triumph and terror that they will be caught.

TORONTO - These have been 10 glorious days for Canadian socialism. In Ontario, they pulled off the trifecta: endless Liberals in Ottawa; Liberals at Queen's Park; NDP at City Hall. "The socialist Utopia has arrived!" -- as my anarcho party-boy Mr. Toronto ex-boyfriend wrote, or something like that (the message makes me so cross I can't read it again). There is simply going to be no one left to blame, though head offices had better watch out. Anti-corporate sentiment in downtown Toronto is so coruscating one would not wonder if the Royal Bank picked up her gleaming gold skirts, (crinkling...

Harvard University did an extraordinary thing for a supposedly august institution, which means, I suspect that its reputation is going the way of The New York Times. It gave a fellowship to the third-rate comedian, left-liberal Clinton apologist, Al Franken, who largely tours the rubber chicken circuit. For his class in "journalism," Franken would have 14 Harvard seniors research a book for him on "right-wing propaganda," which he would style up so that it was funny, or rather "funny." Franken did, and produced Lies (and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them) A Fair and Balanced Look at The Right. Because...

Sometimes it takes a blunt instrument to change things, and Ann Coulter's book Treason, may be that weapon. It's certainly blunt and there's no doubt it's meant as a weapon. It's certainly effective since it is selling as fast as former First Lady, Senator Clinton's bag of wind. Crown Forum, Random House's spanking new conservative imprint, has gone back to the well three times since releasing the book two weeks ago, putting almost half a million copies of Treason in print. Clinton has sold 1,000,000 in her first month. These brisk sales are worth noting, since Coulter, rather than Clinton,...

I have a much greater sense of how difficult it is to come out as a gay man or woman since the United States won the war. There is a distinct chill in the air, I don't call or write my arty left-wing friends and they don't call me. It's not that I don't love them, but the left has had to make such massive intellectual and emotional convolutions to come up with reasons why the Iraqis shouldn't have been liberated that I can't handle it. No doubt, in those tight little talking cabals, they are manufacturing even more insane...

'Join the other superpower," said the bumper sticker on the back of the clapped out Chevy van on the ferry, "world opinion." How I wish I could. Just walk right into that ocean of warmly felt righteousness until the waves were over my head, then breathe. But that would mean I had an IQ of twelve. That would mean I conflated Bush and Saddam. That I was somehow convinced that Saddam, causing the death of an estimated 300,000 children, not to mention the brutal torture or murder of unnumbered Iraqi adults over the past 10 years, is somehow equal to...
