Second eaglet pecks its way out; two hatchlings now in the eagles’ nest at Berry College. From Berry College Eagles’ Facebook page: “B9 is finally here! The little eaglet hatched sometime in the wee hours of the morning and is currently snuggled close together with B8! Great screencap by Deanna George.” Earlier photo: That’s eaglet B8 next to the now “pipped” shell of its sibling as B9 is taking steps to exit its shell. • Camera Captures Bald Eagle Nest

To celebrate the state's thriving bald eagle population, the Pennsylvania Game Commission installed a live nest-cam late last year near Hanover. For those not watching, a pair of eagles worked together for weeks constructing the nest, taking breaks to swoop down on potential food, all in preparation for the arrival of their eggs. The first egg appeared on February 14, followed by a second three days later. After a month or so of incubation, the eggs are expected to hatch around March 21. All of the action can be viewed on the live-cam. One of the more eye-catching frames from...

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — There’s a new bundle of joy on display on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ website. Early Tuesday morning, an eagle chick hatched in the nest watched by the DNR EagleCam, according to DNR Public Affairs Officer Harland Hiemstra. Last year, all three eggs laid by the eagles froze in the January cold. There are two more eggs to go this year, and both are expected to hatch with help from the warmer temperatures expected this weekend.

PITTSBURGH —A female bald eagle defended her nest and the three eggs inside it from an intruding raccoon late Wednesday night. PixController, which is providing a live-stream camera of the nest, captured the close call near the Monongahela River in Hays. (Mobile users: Click here to watch the video) The video showed the eagle being startled by the raccoon before she sprung up and spread her wings. After only a few seconds, the raccoon fled the nest and the mother settled back down. It's not believed any of the three eggs inside were harmed. The 5 1/2-year-old female laid the...

They have been together since the winter of 2007-2008. Her markings at that time indicated that she was about 4 years old.
