George Will....[is] altogether too generous...in describing Hunter's record: "....He is...a skeptic about free trade." Hunter is not a "skeptic" on free trade. He is a demagogic, Lou Dobbsian populist who would have us believe that free trade is destroying the U.S., when by any objective measure free trade has been key to the rise of a massly affluent culture over the past generation. (Today's middle class routinely enjoys creature comforts equal to or surpassing those enjoyed by the upper class in the 1950s.) And Will simply ignores Hunter's horrific record on spending.
