On numerous Internet forums, and some email lists, gun owners periodically report being hassled by police when pulled over for routine traffic infractions. . . . But often there is a common thread to these stories – the dorky gun owner brought up the gun thing all on her own! . . .

MSNBC uber-dork Keith Olbermann has done it again. The cable channel's principal pontificator -- in naming syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin "the worst person in the world" on Wednesday night -- blasted her "total mindless, morally bankrupt, knee-jerk, fascistic hatred, without which Michelle Malkin would just be a mashed-up bag of meat with lipstick on it." AirAmerica.com blogger Megan Carpentier found Olbermann's remarks more than slightly misogynistic, and said, "By attacking Michelle Malkin's politics with an assault on women of every political persuasion, and then indicating a desire to see her physically harmed, a person might understandably get the idea that...

Schakowsky Statement on 'Tax Day Tea Parties' CHICAGO, IL (April 15, 2009) – Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-IL, released the following statement in response to “tea parties” being held on Tax Day. “The ‘tea parties’ being held today by groups of right-wing activists, and fueled by FOX News Channel, are an effort to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan that cuts taxes for 95 percent of Americans and creates 3.5 million jobs. It’s despicable that right-wing Republicans would attempt to cheapen a significant, honorable moment of American history with a shameful political stunt. Not a single American household or...

So, you are sitting in your mothers basement right now, checking your favorite message boards while tending to the carpal tunnel syndrome you have developed from too many hours playing world of warcraft. You have a crush on that level 60 wizard, and she claims she is a girl, but then again, its probably another dude in his mothers basement. You'd like to get out sometimes. Sometimes you even do. You make it to the comic book store once a week, and sometimes even travel to local star trek conventions. Still, you wonder why you have not received the publicity...

Black voters turned out in force and voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama. General Colin Powell endorsed him. An emotional Condoleezza Rice spoke Wednesday of how excited she was to see this historic event. Some are pointing to this as black racism. That's nonsense, and here's why. We're all aware of the history of race relations in this country. Even those of us who under no circumstances would have voted for Obama can at least breath a sigh of relief: Finally, race is no longer a barrier to the pinnacle of national and world leadership. As a bonus, we can now look...

As a pleasingly debauched symbol of his transformation into a top-tier, top-paid newsman, Keith Olbermann has bought a sprawling 40th-floor apartment in an Upper East Side Trump condominium. According to a deed filed late Tuesday afternoon in public records, the Countdown with Keith Olbermann host paid $4.2 million, the exact asking price for the five-room apartment.“The most fabulous views!!” says a giddy Brown Harris Stevens listing with brokers Lisa Lippman and Scott Moore. “On a clear day, you can see forever.” There are different perches for those inestimable views: The 31½-foot-long living room, master bedroom and den each have balconies.Which...

Is America worthy of being presided over by Chuck Hagel? That's the question Chuck Hagel is pondering, and he has promised to get back to us with an answer no later than March 17, 2008--just 357 days from today. Earlier, of course, Chuck Hagel promised us an answer by March 17, 2007--but it turned out he wasn't ready to commit one way or another. That's OK, though. We're not going to rush Chuck Hagel. Chuck Hagel needs his space. Yesterday was the first Sunday of springtime. We spent the morning fast asleep. Maybe you were in church, or hanging out...

  • Edwards says he may have been too inexperienced in 2004

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards acknowledged Monday that he may have been too inexperienced in national politics for his White House run in 2004. The former North Carolina senator was serving his first and only Senate term four years ago when he declared himself a presidential candidate. During a forum at Wake Forest University on Monday, Edwards said he might agree with critics who said he left Congress too soon to seek the presidency.
