Democrats’ dream of blocking a Republican governing trifecta is dwindling down to a handful of West Coast races, as California’s large cache of still-untallied ballots and its notoriously slow count now take center stage in the national political drama.
The party had long seen the nation’s two blue bulwarks — New York and California — as the decisive staging ground for its quest to retake the House majority. In the Empire State, it flipped two GOP-held seats, a rare bright spot in an otherwise nightmarish election night for Democrats.
But after Republicans ousted two Pennsylvania Democratic incumbents, the GOP appears the slight favorite to keep its narrow majority...
One Republican working closely on House races believes that, at worst, the party will lose only one seat, and that the GOP could pick up a seat or two. (Republicans currently hold a 220-212 advantage in the chamber.)
Most pressure bears down squarely on the Golden State, where Democrats hoped to flip as many as five red seats, as well as hold on to the swingy Orange County district being vacated by Democratic Rep. Katie Porter. As of Wednesday, Republicans held the lead, mostly with narrow margins, in all six races.
*** California campaign strategists spent much of Wednesday trying to assess the number of remaining outstanding ballots, which could be upward of 100,000 uncounted votes or more in key districts.
*** Democrats have been bailed out by a prolonged count before. The party infamously swept seven GOP-held seats in 2018, only after a marked “blue shift” of late-processed mail and election day ballots — an outcome then-Republican Speaker Paul Ryan derided as “bizarre.”
***This year, observers say there’s unlikely to be a uniform red or blue shift that will tug the results in one direction in the later count.

As a result Democrats need to pickup 8 more seats to secure a majority. They are currently ahead in 4 seats. Ergo, Democrats would need to run the table in California....
It's looking good for Speaker Johnson
>> Democrats would need to run the table in California
Notwithstanding fraud, the current margins favor at least 3 Republicans
Hopefully Trump can help Mike Johnson to grow a spine. It appears Trump is backing him for now, but I can only assume that he and Trump have had frank discussions behind closed doors on the need for the House to get behind the MAGA agenda. If Johnson fails to do so, his tenure as Speaker will be very short.
GOP House on track to finish with 223 seats for a five seat majority.
Watching reality slowly settle in for these leftist rags is absolutely wonderful.
Well I voted for my GOP incumbent. He was vastly outspent by a multi-millionaire. But the campaign kinda sucked. The GOP guy was blasted as too strict on abortion while the Dem was attacked for financing the Soros DA and advocating for a law to allow adults to have sex with 15 year olds without registering as a sex offender. It’s like the two are polar opposites.
It’s a fairly red district so I think we will hold the seat but you never know. The polling place was quite busy and the Soros DA lost big time so I’m optimistic the GOP will hold this seat.
I don’t know why the pundits don’t ever tell the people the truth.
Historical odds, are that the party that wins the presidential popular vote during a presidential election year will gain seats in the house is 90%.
With Trump winning the popular vote by 4 percent, the odds are high that the GOP not only holds the house but gains seats.
It would leave the Republicans with a 11 seat majority...not 5.
It makes it easier for a GOP Congress and President Trump to screw one of the bluest regions in the U.S. while working hard on behalf of real Americans west of the Delaware River.
Prop 33 got voted down as it should. Southern CA is looking less crazy than downstate NY.
It was reported last night that the GOP flipped three House seats in North Carolina and one in Michigan.
The media also said the dems flipped a seat in Alabama and possibly two in upstate NY.
Four years ago, Republican Claudia Tenney was my Congresswoman. They split her district, and we got Republican candidate Brandon Williams for two years. I hadn’t planned on voting for him yesterday as I didn’t like his voting record, but I was spared from that, because recently, I discovered that they gave my small city, Rome, New York to Elise Stefanik, and I voted for her yesterday. Brandon Williams lost his re-election bid. This is a red county, so it looks like plenty of other people lost faith in him too.
No you mean besides the fraud, or if the fraud isn’t too much or enough....
I dont trust dems at all.
But hopefully we have folks monitoring
It is my sense that Kalifornia’s election system is so corrupt that they will repeat their 2016 cheat and steal by taking days to tally the votes and once again they will not fail the DC democrat criminal cabal thus ensuring a democrat controlled House in 2025.
Democrats teaching us the art of the steal once again
I predict
218
plus 3
A demonrat controlled house means...
. More hearings about Trump’s “criminality”
. More investigations into Trump’s “criminality”
. More subpoenas to Trump family and associates
. More impeachment proceedings against Trump
. Every possible obstacle to his agenda
Do you have a source? Thx
Sure.
I'm looking at the House races on the AP page that haven't been called and assuming, in line with the massive national trend towards Trump, that the pink squares will break for the GOP.
Many of these have already broken out in larger Republican margins as the vote count increases.
Thanks
