The chief apologist for the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, Public Editor Mike King, issues his monthly denial of liberal bias at his newspaper. I'm not sure of the rules of quoting a newspaper at Free Republic, so click on the link above to read the article. (Also see my blog post here). The part that caught my eye was the section on the AJC's coverage of memogate. It seems to me that the AJC is reluctant to publish any rebuttal from solid sources, such as Col Staudt, about if President Bush recived preferrential treatment in joining the Texas Air National Guard. I...

Let us hope that since John Kerry chose to run his platform over what took place more than thirty years ago that it will become a valuable learning tool in what not to do. Future candidates need to learn there isn't anything more futile than running for office one dimensionally. Alas though, Kerry has insisted he must bloviate at any given moment that he served (four months) in Vietnam, Kerry has now been stumping longer on his service than he actually even served. Wouldn't one think if you asked a former president (Bill Clinton who won two terms) for advice...

Guest Editorial by contributor "Respecta" asks us to press the investigation into WHY Dan Rather is protecting the source of his nearly-impossible-not-to-be forgeries. She thinks the circumstances point to paternal nepotism. If it is, then that may be the guilty reason nobody within the MSM dares speak its name. Dan would surely not be the first to defend a loved-one advanced to a position where they could inflict damage on the parent and all that the parent represents. Perhaps others within the Establishment are thinking "There, but for the grace of God, go I." Hence the silence.

In the Eye of the Storm: Riding it Out with Dan Rather by Karen Pittman 17 September 2004 No matter what those celluloid talking heads say, I rather doubt Dan Rather and CBS got “snookered,” as Bill O'Reilly, the biggest blubbering head of all, bloviatingly opined. I rather doubt they got “had,” as those babbling TV brains like to claim. Rather, I am persuaded they were at least in some measure in on the whole wretched hoax. I say it’s rather more likely than not that Dan Rather and CBS were complicit in airing those forged documents whose sole purpose...

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The White House yesterday slammed CBS anchorman Dan Rather for offering President Bush campaign advice and for relying on the "feelings" of a Bush critic to impugn his military record.

The documents are fake. Unless you are Dan Rather, you know it with a near certainty. So now for the interesting questions. Who faked these documents? What is their origin? Who gave them to CBS? Dan Rather knows, because the identity of the source would reveal it the answers. So who is CBS protecting? Let’s run down the possible suspects: • Kerry campaign, with or without Kerry’s personal knowledge • Bush Campaign • CBS Itself • Lt. Col. Killian or His Secretary • Team Hillary 2008 • Gore 2000 Campaign • John McCain, or a McCain Supporter without McCain’s Knowledge...

Just exchanged emails with Garry Moon, columnist for the Athens, Ga. Banner-Herald. He shared a stunning bit of news with me, and said he wanted Kerry Spot readers to know, since he doesn’t know when his column is going to run in the Banner-Herald. Moon managed to contact James J. Pierce, the fourth expert that CBS has cited as one of its experts verifying its documents. (I asked “who is James Pierce?” yesterday. In light of Moon’s news, maybe I was a little harsh on the guy.) Moon writes: I called Pierce at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday night. I told...

The Texas man who was named on Thursday as the source of forged documents aired by disgraced newsman Dan Rather accepted an invitation to address a local Democratic Party gathering earlier this year - and is a regular poster to pro-Democrat Web sites. Retired National Guard Lt. Bill Burkett is viewed as "an intelligent activist or statesman of sorts" by local Democratic Party officials, reports Friday's Washington Post. He's also known as a "crusading voice against what is wrong with the Republican Party in general and with Bush in particular." When the Bush Guard story resurfaced in February, the Taylor...

The secretary for the squadron commander purported to be the author of now-disputed memorandums questioning President Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard said Tuesday that she never typed the documents and believed that they are fakes.

From the New York Observer: " Mr. Rather said that he and Ms. Mapes had heard about the National Guard memos as long ago as 1999." 1999, eh? Boy, that rings a bell… “We eventually came in contact with somebody who said he knew about the documents, and it took a while to get in contact with the man who was supposed to have had the documents,” he said. ... He said they met the source in a “remote location.” “[The source] said they were copies of the documents, and he told us some of the history of where they...

Left-Wing Allegations and Fraudulent Documents Response to DNC Video “Fortunate Son” (NOTE: This is Colonel Wambough's attendum to his article posted here on FREE REPUBLIC: BUSH'S HONORABLE AIR NATIONAL GUARD SERVICE) DNC - Kerry Campaign – CBS 60 Minutes Left-Wing Allegations and Fraudulent Documents Response to DNC Video “Fortunate Son The Democrat National Committee (DNC), the Kerry Campaign, CBS 60 Minutes and their liberal media supporters have launched the fifth major attack on President Bush’s service in the Air National Guard (ANG). The purpose of this attack is to enhance Kerry’s election prospects by dishonoring President Bush’s service in the...

Critics are calling the media scandal over the Jerry Killian forgeries "Rathergate." But to thousands of Vietnam veterans, the real Rathergate took place 16 years ago when Dan Rather successfully foisted a fraud onto the American people. Then, unlike now, there was no blogosphere to expose him.

But the interesting thing is the training I was getting. I was trained in the repair of the very typewriters that are in discussion now on the CBS Documents. The IBM Selectric, and Executive. The Executive, which is the one that uses the proportional spacing was introduced in 1944 (model a exec) and evolved through the Model B in the 50's and the model C in the 60's. They were very sophisticated but totally incapable of producing the documents produced by CBS. Number 1....no superscript....number 2....incapable of the line spacing shown...number 3... I never saw the Times new Roman type...

Peter Principles: A fraud, not a mistake By PETER ROFF WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Though it is not a certainty, the documents produced by CBS News to support the assertions of former Texas House Speaker and Lt. Gov. Ben Barnes that George W. Bush was the beneficiary of special treatment throughout his service in the Texas Air National Guard are likely fraudulent. This is no small issue. It is unusual for a contemporary U.S. presidential campaign to give as much attention to the military service of the candidates. The Kerry campaign, as many have said, has been based almost...

I'm listening to the Hugh Hewitt radio show and he just interviewed Congressman Cox of California who raised the very real prospect of a Congressional Hearing concerning "Forgery Gate". Chris Cox stated that, although it is likely there could be a Congressional Hearing, it is unlikely that it would occur until after the election.....unless there is a large outcry from the public demanding such a hearing immediately. Hugh Hewitt is calling on people to call your Congressman and demand a Congressional Hearing next week. If enough voices are heard, it will happen. He also suggests calling Congressman Joe Barton of...

Just when things couldn't get any worse for poor John Kerry, a source within the DNC, has told CrushKerry.com, that although the Kerry Campaign is not directly involved with the Bush forged military documents, the DNC thinks they know who is. Surprise, Surprise !! MoveOn.org !!! It is believed that MoveOn.org gave the documents to CBS. The source also said they wouldn't be surprised if MoveOn.org was responsible for actually "producing" the forgeries. But, could it be that the Kerry campaign is covering up the fact that THEY are involved, and looking to make MoveOn.org the scapegoat??? Check out the...

Allah Pundit makes a compelling case that the author of the CBS memo surfs anti Bush websites. Why?Well, the memo includes the wrong acronym 'OETR.'People familiar with military technology suggest that the acronym the author of the memo meant to use was 'OER'--an abbreviation for 'Officer Effectiveness Report.'An anti Bush website (found courtesy of Google) called 'The AWOL Project' lists a bunch of related documents under the title, 'The OETR Scam.'Were sure it's just a concidence..
