Sulla attempted to restore Rome to the republican government as it was 400 years prior. There were many who agreed with this ideal, but there were many more who saw that this was a time to lay low while implicating their enemies in whatever anti-Sullan scheme seemed to fit their targets.

After lethally culling both the aristocracy and bourgeoisie, Sulla achieved his goal in form, and retired to the countryside.

Sulla's choice to withdraw from the scene (intended to set an example in nobility to and honoring of the principles in the republic he enforced upon others) left a vacuum that those who craved power would fight everyone to fill.

For have no illusions about it, once a strongman usurps the legal power, a republic's fate is as sealed as that of Humpty-Dumpty. His position was eventually filled by Pompey, Caesar, Antony & Octavian in concert, and finally Octavian being renamed Augustus, the first emperor.

If you wish to keep a free republic, you must work very hard to keep the first Sulla, no matter how noble in appearance or popularity, from being installed. In the United States he will not come from a military coup, but from a coup upon the American Culture so that it becomes completely foreign to the desires of the American Public.

Within the ranks of every decent organization are the agents of unbridled Statism. In some cases they don't even know they will become an agent; in others they hide themselves well. Only longterm behavior will give them away. While it is paranoid to be worried about who they are or over what they will do, it would be the height of foolishness not to be prepared.

I will attempt to spot those instances where potential pitfalls lay. My observations may not mean an alarm should be raised, but I would hope some more caution would be introduced at those times by those in the forefront.

Those in the forefront of progressively forging Statism upon the United States (indeed, the entire world) know full well how much like Humpty-Dumpty we are. I will update this profile from time-to-time. I will date each entry.
