The department has begun running advertising targeted to a gay and lesbian audience, hoping to add diversity to the ranks. Lincoln, Neb., Aug. 8, 2003 -- Thirty-eight incoming freshmen participated in the Summer Institute for Promising Scholars June 11 through July 25 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The institute is a six-week residential program for high school seniors who will attend Nebraska in the fall of 2003 and are members of U.S. racial minority populations that are underrepresented at the university.
