Dave Reichert in Washington's 8th District, announced Wednesday that she is entering the 2012 race for Washington state’s 1st District seat. The district is currently held by Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash., who is running for governor next year.

Bucking a Democratic trend, Republican U.S. Rep. Dave Reichert has won re-election in Washington's 8th Congressional District, defeating two-time challenger Darcy Burner. With almost 80 percent of the expected vote counted from Tuesday's election, Reichert's lead was nearing 8,000 votes Friday. Roughly 270,000 votes have been tallied. Neither side had claimed victory or conceded Friday night. "At this time, the Reichert campaign is declining comment to give the Burner campaign the opportunity to process the development," said Amanda Halligan, Reichert's campaign communications director.
