Curtin lived most of his life just off Route 9, in a black-shuttered Colonial on a cul-de-sac in Howell. He shared a bedroom with his younger brother Danny until the day he left for basic training.He died on Highway 9 in Iraq on a sunny Saturday morning last month when a suicide bomber in a taxicab pulled up to the roadblock where he stood guard.
