NEW YORK — Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine on Wednesday praised Hillary Clinton and her candidacy in introductory remarks for his running mate in New York. Kaine, speaking before campaign staffers and supporters, noted Clinton’s historic candidacy as the first female major party nominee and said she had won the popular vote. “I’m proud of Hillary, because she loves this country,” said Kaine, who had tears in his eyes.

The White House fielded a question Tuesday about sightings of so-called creepy clowns across the country.  "I don't know that the president has been briefed on this particular situation," White House press secretary Josh Earnest said when asked by Bloomberg’s Justin Sink about reports of people dressed as clowns making threats and committing crimes that have been made in at least seven states since the summer. "Obviously, this is a situation that law enforcement is taking quite seriously," Earnest added, directing follow-up questions to the FBI.
