BENNINGTON — A man cited for animal cruelty after police discovered he had 29 dogs living with him on a school bus claims he is misunderstood and that he just wanted to find a place where he and his dogs could live in peace. Larry Rogers Mason, 52, said his long-term plan was to find a rural congregation in the heartland where Mason, an ordained minister, could serve. "I was hoping to find some niche in America that would support the idiosyncrasies of a person raising a lot of dogs," he said.
