BENNINGTON A man cited for animal cruelty after police discovered he had 29 dogs living with him on a school bus claims he is misunderstood and that he just wanted to find a place where he and his dogs could live in peace. Larry Rogers Mason, 52, said his long-term plan was to find a rural congregation in the heartland where Mason, an ordained minister, could serve.
"I was hoping to find some niche in America that would support the idiosyncrasies of a person raising a lot of dogs," he said.

So sad! These people who think they are being nice are truly ill - some mental problem there. It's sad they are trying to be nice, but end up just neglecting and hence, damaging these animals.

It is very unfortunate for the animals. Psychology describes people like this man, as well as Crazy Cat Ladies, as "hoarders."

I wonder if he used a pooper scooper?

"This isn't the first time authorities have questioned Mason about the dogs. It happened before when he lived in New Hampshire in the towns of Newport and Bridgewater."
"Uhh, Hey , pull over!! Where are you going with that busload of dogs?"
"Just tot he next town officer."
"O.K. Just watch your speed there!"
This guy is probably a man with a lot of serious mental problems, no family, no friends and no support network. The dogs have become his surrogate family.
Its really a very sad story.

Imagine what that bus smells like after they all go out in the rain for a while......

He sure wouldn't have a problem finding good homes for all those golden labs and retrievers, we have one of each and they are great family pets.

Just a photo of dogs on a bus.
The bus in the story, no doubt, looked considerably different.

I have my two 'boys.' As disciplined and well behaved as they are, they are a major investment of my time and energy, and frankly, I would not have enough of either to dedicate to a third dog and be fair to the animals.
I do volunteer at a no kill shelter where I consider myself as 'part master' of 60 some other dogs who just happen to live somewhere other than with me. It's a healthy compromise for someone who finds it hard to resist getting yet another dog.

Mine get all wet then congregate around me shaking. Wife takes one wiff and won't let me within 3 feet of her.

Yep, that picture shows a couple of them. Same as black labs in temperament and water loving, but golden color.

I was wondering if your bus photo was from a seeing-eye dog school or similar place. The dogs look healthy and happy, plus it isn't cheap to get them all seatbelt harnasses. It looks like someone, or a bunch of someones, is doing something right in that photo.
