Quantum entanglement in top quarks has been demonstrated, according to physicists at CERN who say the discovery offers new insights into the behavior of fundamental particles and their interactions at distances that cannot be attained by light-speed communication. The research, led by University of Rochester professor Regina Demina, extends the phenomenon known as “spooky action at a distance” to the heaviest particles recognized by physicists and offers important new insights into high-energy quantum mechanics. Initially discovered almost three decades ago, top quarks are the most massive elementary particles that have been observed. The mass of these unique particles originates from...

Have been checking this question out online and not getting very far. Older FR posts from 20 years ago pull up on the search, ostensibly discussing ping lists and offering them, but this gets confusing the deeper I drill down, no guidance as to how to actually identify, access, or even create one. Some of the postings go back to the early 2000's. Looks like they are trying to be helpful but I can't make heads nor tails of the links they offer. Am stumped. Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong and how to do it the right...

Picture it being 1941 and the FDR regime, believing that Greens would never let them have or concentrate the necessary industrial effort within the continental US, were to farm the Manhatten Project out to Kuwait. and/or other near-east entities.....There is more than sufficient reason to think that this question is critically important to the safety and security of the United States.

@Nigel_Farage 🚨 ELECTION INTERFERENCE ALERT 🚨 Big Tech giant @Google has BLOCKED our Ad Accounts. They are trying to stop the Reform message. I hope @MattBrittin can look into this issue as a matter of urgency. We want action.

Something very odd happened to me yesterday. I had noticed a mole on my back that concerned me and rather than wait a few weeks for an appointment, I dropped into my dermatologist for him to have a quick look. He gave me a name for it, "Seborrheic Keratoses", and said it benign and was nothing to worry about. He sent me off with a pamphlet about it. I had not done any searches online, for either skin cancer in general or for this specific lesion, not now or ever. I have watched cardio docs on Youtube, but it doesn't...

Hell Is Empty and All the Bots Are HereArtificial intelligence is a new pagan god.Editors’ NoteThe following excerpt is from John Daniel Davidson’s new book, Pagan America: The Decline of Christianity and the Dark Age to Come (Regnery, 2024).No recent development better illustrates the return of paganism in our time than the arrival of artificial intelligence, or AI. That might seem counterintuitive, since AI is a powerful new technology made possible by complex computer algorithms working at unprecedented speeds—a creation of the new digital era that seems to belong to the future, not some distant pagan past. But to assume that...

Nvidia Corp.’s meteoric rise makes it not only the third-largest company in the U.S. in terms of market capitalization, but also bigger than most other countries’ economies, based on gross domestic product. The chip maker’s stock closed at $788.17 on Friday, giving it a market value of $1.97 trillion. That figure is greater than the GDP of every nation in the world but 11, beating the likes of Russia, South Korea and Australia, according to February International Monetary Fund data compiled by Forbes. Of course, comparing a single stock’s market cap to a country’s GDP is not a perfect exercise,...

The U.S. Department of Commerce banned Russian company Kaspersky from selling its anti-virus software and other cybersecurity products in the country after determining that the firm posed an “undue or unacceptable risk to national security.”“Kaspersky will generally no longer be able to, among other activities, sell its software within the United States or provide updates to software already in use,” the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) said in a June 20 press release. The prohibition is applicable to Kaspersky Lab, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Moscow-based Kaspersky Lab. The company’s operations were deemed to be risky to the...

Just wondering what would happen if FR ceased to exist. Talk about a lifestyle change. Inflation is roaring and taking a trip is much more costly. Groceries - fegedaboudit. Brandonomics is hitting everyone very hard. And that's even before buying that very first mandatory EV! Times are tough for everyone.

The world's governments now have around $60 trillion in debt which is then sold to investors as bonds. So who owns this debt? In a note sent out to clients on Friday, Deutsche Bank chief global economist Torsten Sløk broke down who owns various countries' debts. One chart breaks down debt ownership for selected developed markets and the other for emerging market countries. For the US, the largest chunk of government debt is held by US-based non-bank investors followed by the governments of other countries.

It turns out there is a browser extension that can help prevent people from going blind from staring into web pages that show grey print on a white background. The extension is called dark reader and it lets you see web pages as white print on a black background. That combined with darkish browser themes seems to fix most of the problem...

Another post about Hertz customer service being difficult to reach made me ask Freepers about this. When I was widowed two years ago I had to get the hang of handling affairs that she had always taken care of. I'm decent at it now, but even as we text there are companies that deliberately make it hard to 1.Find a phone number for help. and 2. Speak to a human because my issue was complicated and not included anywhere on their 'menu.' I learned plenty of methods to get by, but a couple of companies had me tapping out. What...

Gen Z want Hot Rodent Men - and they are being very vocal about it. What does it mean? How does one qualify? And how is being compared to a rodent a compliment? “Dad Bod”... “Babygirl”... “Short King”... The internet loves to label, often in mildly baffling ways, and a new term has been going viral lately: “Hot Rodent Men”. Apparently, anyone who falls into that category is the most desirable thing to be right now. So, what does this unusual compliment mean and should we be worried? Here’s the lowdown. What is a Hot Rodent Man? A “Hot Rodent...

A relatively small web forum I am a member of is shutting down soon. There are a lot of posts on it I and other members would like to archive to HD for reference. Saving individual pages is VERY time consuming, and we only have until the end of the month. Do any of our FReeper computer guru's have any experience with this?

Hunter Biden’s conviction on felony gun charges increases the likelihood he could face stiffer penalties at his September tax-evasion trial should he be found guilty, an expert told The Post. One of Biden’s current mitigating factors for when he is sentenced by Judge Maryellen Noreika on the gun charges is the fact that he has no criminal history — something that won’t be true during his next trial in California overseen by Judge Mark C. Scarsi. Both jurists were appointed to the federal bench by former President Donald Trump. “It can undermine him in two ways. First, he cannot count...

Here’s a thought. What if the kids are all right? New polling shows young voters in the US are shrugging off their habit of voting left and actually thinking of voting Republican in November. In almost equal numbers to their Democrat-voting contemporaries. All this despite the daily diet of Democrats trying to throw everything at young voters to woo them. Anyone who gets daily messages in their inbox from the Biden- Harris campaign will know how hard they are trying to make voting Democrat “cool” to young voters. In the past few days alone this has included “direct messages” from...

Windows 11 officialy squeezed within the confines of 16GB storage. Microsoft has published the system requirements for Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024, which recently started to roll out. The specification will help steer design decisions for upcoming devices and computers running Windows IoT Enterprise. Lowered minimum specifications, with TPM and Secure Boot optional, are among the most interesting aspects of this release. Windows 11 IoT Enterprise is a full version of Windows Enterprise intended for fixed-purpose devices like ATMs, point-of-sale terminals, digital signage, kiosks, and industrial automation systems, among others. In other words, this version of Windows is not...

It's a form letter from Cencora and its Lash Group partner, with pharma companies. They say they had a data breach 2/21/24 and patient's data may have been leaked. They're letting clients know "what information was potentially involved.." The "potential" information was Bob's (not the real name; it's a relative of mine) first name, last name, address, date of birth, health diagnosis, and or prescriptions. Page two says their solution is to provide two years Experian services (which includes notifications of activity, etc). Then they go into a lengthy description of Experian and how they can help. It sounds like...

Theory has become practice as new work from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering taps diamond defects’ remarkable ability to concentrate optical energy. Researchers have developed atomic antennas using germanium vacancy centers in diamonds, achieving a million-fold optical energy enhancement. This advancement allows the study of fundamental physics and opens new research avenues. The collaboration between theoretical and experimental teams was essential to this breakthrough. Atomic Antennas: Harnessing Light for Powerful Signals Similar to how a radio antenna captures a broadcast from the air and concentrates the energy into music, individual atoms can collect and concentrate the...
