It turns out there is a browser extension that can help prevent people from going blind from staring into web pages that show grey print on a white background. The extension is called dark reader and it lets you see web pages as white print on a black background. That combined with darkish browser themes seems to fix most of the problem...
“The Dark Reader” sounds ominous.
I absolutely hate Google’s influence on software interfaces. Whoever thought of light gray font on white should be shot in the face.
Freeper needs a little advice about hard to read screen.

For which browser?
Agree, I was starting to go blind from it...
Pretty much any of them, including Vivaldi and anything else based on Chromium.
OK, now tell us about your font preferences...
It seemed to slow down my browser a little.
Maybe check under the “more” tab that it is set to dynamic.
A friend mentioned that he noticed it runs slightly better with that setting.
I don't notice that but even if I did I'd still like that better than I like thew idea of going blind......
Thank you. I’ve been needing this for 25 years for FR.
On an iPad you can make grey text on a white background darker by
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Increase Contrast > Darken Colors.
I’ve never wanted to use apple products since apple pulled the stunt they did to shut down the Atari ST computer in the mid 80s.
Dark setting is an option on all browsers that I know of. Just look in the settings.

I believe it’s the same innovator who thought of printing the directions on packages in small, light pink letters.
“Dark Reader” sounds like a special browser that makes it easy to explore the dark web.
Like here on FR, in regular mode, the title of the article changes colors to a darker blue (I think, I'm colorblind!) after I click on it. Using Dark Reader, the title does not change colors so I have to revert it back to normal to see what I've clicked on.
There is only one extension that changes the colors like that and that one is Super Dark Mode, but there are other aspects of that extension that are weird.
