@MzSgtPepper: I am proposing that August 1st be a “Tweet Out” day where blue voters take the day off from tweeting. Think of the revenue lost for Twitter - X if we did that. Best way to affect change with a billionaire is to hit them in the wallet. RT if you are with me. #August1stTweetOutDay @MarkHammill This will only be effective if EVERYONE refrains from tweeting (X-ing?) on August 1st a/k/a #TweetlessTuesday. Let's show the owner the POWER OF THE PEOPLE. Honestly, would it kill you to keep your thoughts to yourself for 1 damn day? Read a book!...

The city of San Francisco has launched an investigation into Twitter headquarters, after a giant “X” was installed on the roof of the building without a permit amid the social media company’s ongoing rebrand. The “X” was installed on top of the building in downtown San Francisco Friday, after police stopped workers earlier this week from dismantling the Twitter sign on the side of the building, according to The Associated Press. They reportedly lacked the proper permits and had not taped off the sidewalk as a safety measure. Two new complaints were filed with the San Francisco Department of Building...

Here's how to use Windows To Go and Rufus to set up Windows 11 on a PC that doesn't meet its requirements. Windows 11 system requirements specify that it needs UEFI, Secure Boot and TPM. Many old computers are powerful enough to run Windows 11. Yet, they cannot install the OS because of these requirements. Windows 11 refuses to install and displays the message "this PC can't run Windows 11". There is a way to bypass these requirements and install Windows 11 on any powerful computer, even if it is old. The process is quite simple as well. Unlike earlier...

In order to optimize traffic flow through city streets, municipalities often install car-counting cameras or other sensors at a few set locations. A new study, however, suggests that using existing bus-mounted cameras may be a better way to go. Most city buses are already equipped with forward-facing cameras for the same reason that many private vehicles are – to document any accidents in which they may be involved. Such cameras are in use on the buses utilized at The Ohio State University campus, which is laid out a bit like a small city. MORE STORIES Gaia adds some loading versatility...

Ever since AI chatbot ChatGPT launched last year, people have tried to ‘jailbreak’ the chatbot to make it answer ‘banned’ questions or generate controversial content. ‘Jailbreaking’ large language models (such as ChatGPT) usually involves a confusing prompt which makes the bot roleplay as someone else - someone without boundaries, who ignores the ‘rules’ built into bots such as ChatGPT. DailyMail.com was able to ‘jailbreak’ ChatGPT with the bot offering tips on how to subvert elections in foreign countries, writing pornographic stories, and suggesting that the invasion of Ukraine was a sham. OpenAI has since blocked several ‘jailbreak’ prompts But there...

This article describes a mixed-race political figure, basically a professional activist, who projected a benevolent exterior, yet brought destruction in his wake. Count Richard Nikolaus Eijiro von Coudenhove-Kalergi is today an obscure political figure, though in his time he was kind of a minor celebrity, and began the concept leading to the European Union. His father descended from Byzantine nobility, and also with ancestry from lineages all over Europe. This citizen of the world was a diplomat and married a Japanese woman whose parents were quite displeased, throwing her out of the family. Richard was born in 1894, the second...

RIP Twitter and even "Tweet". Get used to NOT typing it. A Tweet is now a 'Post" on there. Twitter is now X. The apps in the app stores have the new logo and an intro screen. And soon it will go into dark mode by default. Interesting times!

A Mastodon server that focuses on left-leaning political activists, recently had an unencrypted copy of its database confiscated by the FBI.Source: Pixabay The recent news that a copy of Kolektiva.social’s database was confiscated by the FBI as the result of a raid at the home of one of the organization’s administrators, should serve as a cautionary tale for activists taking advantage of Mastodon’s federated nature to form online communities. Specifically, you should should do some research into the security in place at an activist-focused server, as well as the servers privacy policies.Actually, the same advice would hold even if you...

I am planning to install an around the house night vision camera system. Hardwired. My electrician can run the negligible additional wiring needed. I would like it to record to an on site recorder. I would like it to alert us when people arrive and allow us to look through phone or tablet. I would like to be able to move it to internet surveillance when we are off the property. Is this doable? I see systems prices all over the map. At what sort of cost Who could do it? An electrician? I have had big deal national alarm...

As bosses praise his 'genuine love for the brand' By His eye for youthful beauty is no secret. But now Leonardo DiCaprio can combine business with pleasure whenever he hotfoots it to London. In recent weeks, the Oscar winner, 48, has been repeatedly spotted at the trendy Chiltern Firehouse restaurant with Coventry-born supermodel Neelam Gill — who, incidentally, is the same age as 28-year-old model Gigi Hadid, with whom he was linked last year. But it’s not just a beautiful woman bringing him to the capital. I can reveal that the star, said to be worth £230million, has put a...

I have media files stored on a PC running Windows 10 Pro and also available for storage on a PC or laptop running Linux Mint. Photos, music files, videos, PDF books, and other eBooks. I would like to be able to access those files and view/listen to them on an iPad. It sounds like this is possible, but I was wondering if anyone has suggested ways to do this, along with any pitfalls to watch out for.

A top World Economic Forum (WEF) official has called for so-called ‘conspiracy theorists’ to be banned from accessing the internet due to their ‘dangerous’ belief that a global cabal of elites control the world. Yuval Noah Harari, who is Klaus Schwab’s right hand man, condemned the theory that a shadowy elite of billionaires and globalists control the world as “anti-Semitic” and “dangerous.” During an appearance on the Lex Fridman podcast, Harari pointed out that the world is “too complex” for powerful people to control it. “The global cabal theory has many variations, but basically, there is a small group of...

Bryan Cranston delivered a fiery speech at a SAG-AFTRA strike rally in Times Square on Tuesday, which included a message directed at Disney head Bob Iger. “We’ve got a message for Mr. Iger,” Cranston said from the stage of the “Rock the City for a Fair Contract” rally. “I know, sir, that you look [at] things through a different lens. We don’t expect you to understand who we are. But we ask you to hear us, and beyond that to listen to us when we tell you we will not be having our jobs taken away and given to robots....

Welcome to my guide on how to navigate the oh so exciting world of AI with ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence created by OpenAI. Let's break down the basics in this easy-to-understand guide for some of us older Freepers who don't feel like slaying another dang dragon. ## Prompts A prompt is simply a question or statement that you give to ChatGPT. The AI then responds based on what you said. It's like starting a conversation with a friend. For example, you might ask, "What's the weather like today?" or tell it, "Tell me a joke." For some fun, try asking...

It’s “We the people,” not we the AI. Computer language models are under the impression that the US Constitution — written way before the Internet in 1787 — is an AI-generated document. The explanation is simple, according to Edward Tian, creator of AI writing catcher GPTZero, a service that also found the biblical book of Genesis to be 88% computerized. “The US Constitution is a text fed repeatedly into the training data of many large language models,” he told Ars Technica. “As a result, many of these large language models are trained to generate similar text to the Constitution and...

Earlier this year, a 40-year debate over a painting known as the de Brécy Tondo was settled thanks to artificial intelligence–based facial recognition software, with the painting now considered to have likely been the famed Renaissance artist Raphael. Now, that painting has gone on public display for the first time at the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in Bradford, England. For years, the de Brécy Tondo was assumed to be a copy of a work by Raphael made in the Victorian era, in large part because of its resemblance to his Sistine Madonna altarpiece. Hassan Ugail, a professor at the University...
