An Oregon comedian who was working on the coronavirus-stricken MS Westerdam cruise — which docked in Cambodia after being turned away from five countries — says he’s been fired from future gigs after fleeing quarantine. Frank King said he escaped the hotel lockdown implemented after one of the Holland America liner passengers who disembarked tested positive for the coronavirus, news station WGXA reported. “We were stuck in the hotel from which I self-deported,” King told the outlet.

My Aussie comic character Jim Cousens has been found to be not up to “community standards” on facebook. So facebook has banned the link www.jimcousens.com It is impossible for me to find out exactly why or discuss this censorship with them. Do Free Republic readers have any comment? (A specific question: do you as Americans have trouble understanding the accent? Would it be easier if there were subtitles?) A glossary of Australian slang terms in the little film which you can see on this link: https://jimcousens.com/2019/07/28/for-all-mankind/ “reckon” to believe or to state “sheilas” women "HooRoo!" Dozens of young people staged a dramatic march from the Capitol to the headquarters of California’s teacher pension fund on Thursday, imploring CalSTRS to withdraw its investments from oil and gas companies. The children, some drenched in mock oil, participated in a “die-in” at CalSTRS headquarters in West Sacramento, where they said their generation would suffer from the effects of climate change. “We’re the ones that are vulnerable,” Sophia Jacobs, 12, of Berkeley said. Their protest marked the latest effort by environmental advocacy groups to press California’s public pension funds to divest from fossil fuel industries. The California State Teachers’...

Just when it seemed as though the transgender movement was reaching a fever-pitch and it was becoming impossible to stand up to the zealous mob of trans-enthusiasts, it appears some celebrities may have found the secret to shutting them down and evading the dreaded “cancel culture” imposed on anyone who dares speak truth or reason. Perhaps this culture battle is not all but lost after all. Back in December, famed author J.K. Rowling tweeted her support for Maya Forstater, a former tax expert who lost her job at think tank Center for Global Development for declaring that men and women...

Hollywood took more heavy fire at this year’s Golden Globes than General Soleimani catching a flight out of Bagdhad. Dave Chappelle has dropped some bunker busters recently, too. Seinfeld and Bill Maher never really retreated to their credit. Just last month, Eddie Murphy returned to the fight, armed with nothing more than his trusty, old-fashioned funny. There’s good news to report from the theater of comedy combat, America. The decorated generals of joke-telling are beginning to gain ground again in the war on comedy. The enemy is today’s political left who, for years, have been on the march to silence jokes they’ve...

After almost 40 years in the spotlight, Eddie Murphy has seen how the times have changed in terms of lines comedians are willing to cross with their material. But despite knowing how much of what he used to cover in how own stand-up routines 30-plus years ago wouldn’t fly today, he does admit there’s “some of” his material he’d still laugh at now — while other jokes are “cringey.” “Some of it, I cringe when I watch it,” he said during an interview with Tracy Smith for CBS Sunday Morning this week, adding with a laugh, “Like, ‘Oh my God,...

Adam Schiff is back in the news in a big way. He’s about as funny as a rubber crutch, but it can’t be wrong to call a timeout to laugh at him. Tom Shillue has mastered the bizarreries of Schiff’s deportment in a manner that brings insight to impersonation. The compilation of Shillue clips below made me laugh out loud. It is the second of two such compilations on YouTube.

fans attending Davidson’s standup at the Sydney Goldstein Theater were asked to sign a lengthy contract that forbade them from tweeting or instagramming any opinions about the performance. “I didn’t want to sign it because it was basically saying that I wasn’t able to comment on it or have an opinion,” Young told Variety. “The most you could say is ‘no comment.'” After refusing to sign the NDA emailed to her from the venue, Young was given a full refund but there was no additional information as to why this was happening. “I called the box office and wondered if...

Canadian comedian Mike Ward has lost his appeal and has been ordered by a Quebec judge to pay $35,000 because of a joke he told about a disabled boy. Ward was ordered to pay $35,000 to Jeremy Gabriel, who suffers from a genetic disorder that causes facial deformity and affects his hearing, due to a joke the comedian told at shows between 2010 and 2013. Two of three judges ruled Mike Ward’s comments regarding Gabriel were not justifiable in a society where freedom of expression is valued. Ward was originally ordered to pay an additional $7,000 to Gabriel’s mother—a fine...

Comedian Tim Allen took aim at political correctness in his field, lamenting the fact that he has to accommodate the "thought police" when speaking to big arenas. "What I got to do sometimes is explain -- which I hate -- in big arenas, that this is a thought police thing, and I do not like it. But when I use these words, this is my intent behind those words," he told "The View" on Monday. "So as long as you understand my intent -- I still get people: 'Well, just don't say it,'" he said, mocking critics. Co-host Joy Behar,...

On Tuesday night, outside the Laugh Factory in Hollywood, TMZ asked comedian D.L. Hughley if First Lady Melania Trump should have been booed at the Baltimore Youth Summit where she spoke about America’s opioid crisis. The reporter asked, “Do you think she deserved that type of treatment.” Hughley said, “I do. Her husband despaired Baltimore, and he sent his woman in which I think is cowardly.”

The Atlantic Magazine admitted (approvingly) that the latest opening skit on Saturday Night Live skit was less a satire and really more of a campaign ad for Elizabeth Warren. The Sunday article by pop culture critic Spencer Kornhaber made this admission both in the title, "SNL Runs an Ad for Elizabeth Warren," and body of the article. Kornhaber also concedes the obvious, that President Donald Trump does not receive such favorable treatment: "When the topic is Donald Trump, the bits—for better and often for worse—fuel themselves on open mockery." McKinnon's Warren seems much more positive than McKinnon's take on Hillary...

Comedian Terrence K. Williams of “The Deplorables” comedy troupe, pleaded for help Friday amidst fears Twitter was targeting his account for his support of President Trump. A popular blue check conservative with over 600,000 followers, Williams received a legal warning from Twitter right before he was to go to the White House’s “Young Black Leadership Summit.” A little after 2pm on October 4, Williams tweeted, “TWITTERS LEGAL TEAM CONTACTED ME ON THE DAY I GO TO THE WHITE HOUSE! People want to take my account down because I said Schiff Should Resign, called out AOC & I support Pres @realDonaldTrump...

Among the fascinating phenomena of America’s most prominent Muslim activist organizations is how they decide which Muslims to lift up and which to ignore. Compare two recent comedy specials. One, Dave Chappelle’s newest Netflix special “Sticks & Stones,” which is generating intense reactions given its choice of material — including abortion, #MeToo, Transgenderism, “the alphabet people” (referring to the expanding acronym LGBTQIA+), and the implications of the “cancel culture,” which seeks to silence all who do not adhere to the “woke” doctrines of political correctness. Thinking about this hilariously offensive special brought to mind another recent comedy special that challenged...

SNIP Reiterating his loathing for the role that he expressed in June, Baldwin tells former SNL regular Kevin Nealon on the latter’s new YouTube series Hiking with Kevin (watch it below), that the first couple seasons recurring as Trump were fine – “fun, fun, fun,” actually – but the role grew tiresome. “I don’t want to do it anymore,” Baldwin says bluntly, explaining that he doesn’t think the satire is having any impact on the real thing. “I don’t think it’s doing anything. It’s not doing anything good or bad for him.” The actor says the president “likes any attention...

So she sits me down. We have a nice conversation. She tells me, “Oh, the sketches are great.” I go, “Oh, fantastic. Well, then… well, then, why am I here?” She said, “Because, David, there’s no way… that you can ever say the word… “f*ggot” on our network. I didn’t know I did anything wrong. I didn’t try to defend myself. I said, “All right. F*** it, I’ll take it out. Have a good afternoon.” And as I was leaving, it occurred to me. “Hey. Hey, Renée, quick question. It’s just a question. Seriously, I wanna know. Like, wh-why is...
