Reiterating his loathing for the role that he expressed in June, Baldwin tells former SNL regular Kevin Nealon on the latter’s new YouTube series Hiking with Kevin (watch it below), that the first couple seasons recurring as Trump were fine – “fun, fun, fun,” actually – but the role grew tiresome.
“I don’t want to do it anymore,” Baldwin says bluntly, explaining that he doesn’t think the satire is having any impact on the real thing. “I don’t think it’s doing anything. It’s not doing anything good or bad for him.” The actor says the president “likes any attention he gets,” and that sometimes in his SNL dressing room he would “hope a meteor hits this building and it kills me.”

Since when is comedy supposed to “do anything” other than give people a chuckle.
Entertainers have a very distorted picture of their own role in society. They are clowns. Some of them sing or dance a little. They aren’t important.
Haven’t seen him on TCM in a while, so that’s good. Wonder who’s idea it was to make him the host of the current incarnation of Match Game?
Alec is insightful at times. He admits his SNL portrayals are not likely to change anything for the president. He admits Mr. Trump actually probably enjoys the attention, good or bad.
For that same reason, I expect Alec to “reluctantly” continue appearing in his Trump Parody role on SNL. Alec also enjoys attention, be it positive or negative. Recall all those incidents of him beating up photographers in public.
Alec enjoyed doing that, because he thought it made him look like a Bad-Ass. When in truth, it made him look like a Horse’s Ass to everybody else.

Baldwin is mistaken if he thinks SNL has the audience it once had. Manage pain? I don’t watch the show, therefore I have no pain.

You know its funny Lorne and the rest loved Trump so much as to have him on the show three times since 1989, and all i see is audience smiling faces and wildly high ratings when he was on.
