Poetry and lore speak of a mother’s grief, a mother’s tears for a deceased child. So perhaps the spotlight after her soldier-son’s death in 2004 was bound to be captured by Cindy Sheehan. For Pat Sheehan, the very private role of simply continuing to be Casey’s father has been enough - until recently, that is. In a blip of publicity Cindy Sheehan bowed out of her diminishing limelight, announcing that she would stop her activism against the Iraq war. In doing so, she declared that Casey Sheehan “did indeed die for nothing.” That statement ended Pat Sheehan’s silence. He called...

<p>WASHINGTON, DC, June 29, 2007— Imagine our surprise when, as we started putting up our banners at the gates of Walter Reed Army hospital, there stood George, Larry and other North Carolina Gathering of Eagles members, last seen by FReepers at the Gathering of Eagles–Chapel Hill. This vanload of citizen patriots would be spending the weekend far from home to cheer the troops as Independence Day was drawing near. They had stopped by our weekly Friday night Walter Reed troop-support rally on their way to a GOE rally and counter-demonstration against northern moonbats at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey on Saturday.</p>

[photos] The Los Angeles Impeachment Center officially opened the morning of July 4th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Peace Center and a picnic at La Cienega Park. An array of over 200 activists and revelers gathered at the park to gather information, listen to speakers, and support investigations into the misdeeds of the Executive Branch. Among the groups represented, in addition to the Los Angeles Greens: Westside Greens, San Fernando Valley Greens, Progressive Democrats of America, 9/11 Truth Now, Code Pink, and many more. Petitions, voter registration forms, bumper stickers, and lawn signs were among the many items...

On June 22, FReepers from DC Chapter and beyond, together with allies, gathered outside the main gate of Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WR) for our weekly support the troops FReep. At the same time, the cruel Code Pinkos and their fellow travelers assembled a block away to continue their vicious taunting of wounded troops, but they bombed out yet again. Here is a web page describing background for the FReep, including the intense hatred that the venomous Pinkos have for our troops, except those troops who join Pinko efforts. Some photos from past FReeps will be added to the...

Bay area CODEPINK member collapsed in Lieberman's office after 10 days of an ongoing hunger-strike to gain a meeting with the Senator. Outraged by Senator Lieberman's comments on CBS on June 15 about wanting to bomb Iran, CODEPINK member Leslie Angeline, 50, decided to start a hunger strike until she could meet with the senator. A meeting was scheduled then cancelled by Lieberman's office, resulting in over 50 members of CODEPINK and Iranian, Iraqi, Israeli and Jewish communities to converge on the Senator's office. 3 days later the Senator from Connecticut repeated his accusations and proposed military attack against Iran....

A member of the anti-war group Code Pink who had staged a hunger strike in order to force a meeting with Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.) on his stance on Iran collapsed in the senator’s office Thursday. Leslie Angeline, who had recently traveled to Iran, wanted to discuss the senator’s remarks from earlier this month that indicate he would support a limited air strike on the country. The 50-year-old woman launched a hunger strike to get a face-to-face meeting with Lieberman but was repeatedly rebuffed, according to Code Pink. However, Lieberman's staff has met with her on the issue. Angeline was...

WASHINGTON, DC, June 15, 2007— Imitation, they say, is the sincerest form of flattery. In the two and a half years that the DC Chapter of Free Republic has been FReeping (counterprotesting) a group of CodePink-sponsored anti-war protesters at Walter Reed, their "vigil" has gradually sought to look more and more like our FReep. First, after pressure from us and exposure in the conservative media, they relinquished their bloody protest signs for patently insincere "Support the Troops" signs. Next, when most of the passersby beeped for us, they ditched their desecrated U.S. flags for the genuine Stars'n'Stripes. This week, they...

This evening, the Fox News Channel's two highest rated programs, The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity & Colmes, had members of the pro-terrorist Marxist front group Code Pink on to discuss Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton's shifting stand on the Iraq war.Neither show challenged the Code Pink spokeswomen on the group's well documented pro-terrorist, pro-socialist dictatorship politics. Instead they were presented as legitimate players in the debate on the war and Clinton's candidacy.Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin was on The O'Reilly Factor opposite a Democratic consultant. Host Bill O'Reilly praised Benjamin for answering his softball questions about Code Pink's lobbying...

"Congresswoman Herseth, elected by a 69% victory, was largely due to women rallying in South Dakota, determined to protect our rights. Yet the Congresswoman voted to give Bush $100 billion to continue death and destruction in Iraq. Women and men voters in South Dakota are bitterly disappointed. ""Two brave codepinkers determined to end war. Congressman Kind was at the Boys & Girls Club, refusing to speak with these girls about his vote to continue war. They ask him how can he care about boys and girls when he is sending them to kill and be killed? And what about Iraq...

More than 40 bills that call for pulling U.S. troops out of Iraq or otherwise trying to end the war are being kicked around Congress by Democrats eager to again challenge President Bush. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid say they will put troop-withdrawal timetables in upcoming defense-spending bills, despite backing down last month when Mr. Bush vetoed a war-funding bill over similar measures. "We're fairly well set up now as to how we're going to do it and when we're going to do it," said Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat. The feminist antiwar group Code Pink...

Code Pink was founded in 2002 as a women-run, women-led peace organization with a creative approach to protest. There are at least 250 chapters, mostly in this country; in recent months, the groups' focus has coalesced around lobbying Congress to end the Iraq war. In March, Code Pink started renting a group house so women descending on the District would have a place to stay. SNIP "We're trying to change the culture and say, 'Listen, these are not your hallowed halls of seclusion,' " says Murphy, 53, who served in the Peace Corps and used to work for the U.S....

SAN FRANCISCO -- Anti-war activists are calling on city officials to bring an end to the annual Fleet Week flyover by the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels. CodePink, Global Exchange and Veterans for Peace are working with Supervisor Chris Daly on a resolution that calls for stopping the popular air show, a San Francisco tradition that began more than 25 years ago. Daly said he may introduce a resolution as early as next week that calls for permanently halting the flyovers because "they seem dangerous and unnecessary." The resolution would state the Board of Supervisors' position, but would not be legally...

You’ll be shocked, shocked to find out who’s behind this: Veterans for Peace, Global Exchange and Code Pink. But don’t you dare question their patriotism. Questioning their sanity is fair game, though. Evidence of west coast anti-military crazy goes back a few years. The annual aerial show by the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels — a San Francisco tradition dating back to 1981 that pumps millions into the local economy — is running into opposition from three local peace advocacy groups that are calling for a permanent halt to the popular Fleet Week flyover. Medea Benjamin, leader of the terrorist supporting Marxist front group Code Pink, tonight contradicted Peace Mom Cindy Sheehan's claim that she was broke after three years of non-stop campaigning against the Iraq war.Sheehan, whose antiwar effort was prompted by the combat death in Iraq of her son, Army Spc. Casey Sheehan, in April 2004, issued a statement on Memorial Day announcing her retirement from the peace movement. In that statement, Sheehan claimed to have spent "every penny" she has received in the past three years to stop the war. She said that her hospital bills from treatment for a life-threatening...

The mother of a US Marine from Memphis killed in Iraq is asking for an injunction against a national women's peace group. Elke Morris wants to stop the group Codepink from using her son's image in its exhibits and memorials. Morris is the mother of Captain Robert Secher, who was killed by a sniper in Iraq's Anbar province last year. She said she received a letter from Codepink several weeks ago saying its members were creating a display that would include names and images of fallen soldiers, including that of her son. Codepink's traveling exhibit displays more than 130 panels...

This FReep was marked by a number of soldiers and employees of Walter Reed stopping by to tell us how much they appreciated our Friday evening Rallies. We've been doing this every Friday for over two years now. I've been with the FReepers since August of 2005, so my own two-year anniversary is coming up soon. During this time the other FReepers and I have spoken with a few hundred of our wounded warriors and their families. Their response has been overwhelmingly positive. From them and other sources we know that most everyone at the hospital knows what we do...
