After the latest round of primaries, some lessons can already be drawn from this political year. Incumbents are not popular, especially Democratic incumbents. Democrats' big government programs are hugely unpopular. Economic distress has made Americans yearn not for more government but for less. How to explain something contrary to the New Deal historians' teaching that economic distress increases support for big government? Clues can be obtained, I think, by examining what amounts to the founding document of the tea party movement, Rick Santelli's "rant" on the CME trading floor in Chicago, telecast live by CNBC on Feb. 19, 2009. That...

After action report of yesterday's Chicago "Can you hear us NOW?" march on the media. Approximately 100 patriots gathered at 4:00pm outside of ABC news studios on State Street in Chicago. We sang God Bless America, The National Anthem and chanted "report the news" "do your jobs" "can you hear us now?" etc... After about 1/2 hour, we marched on over to CBS News studios. The folks at CBS saw us coming and pulled down the window shades to the studio. LOL, cowards. More chanting commenced. The protest was to last until 6pm, but I left at about 5:30 as...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Democrats unveiled a $410 billion spending bill on Monday to keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year, setting up the second political struggle over federal funds in less than a month with Republicans. The measure includes thousands of earmarks, the pet projects favored by lawmakers but often criticized by the public in opinion polls. There was no official total of the bill's earmarks, which accounted for at least $3.8 billion. The legislation, which includes an increase of roughly 8 percent over spending in the last fiscal year, is expected to clear the...

Here is video of Rick Santelli destroying Obama's Mortgage Plan on Larry Kudlow yesterday. Every time Santelli opens his mouth, it is a breath of fresh air because he is telling the common-sense truth, which we are not hearing much of these days. Santelli directly responds to the charge by White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs that he has not read Obama's plan. . . . . . (Watch Santelli)

Saving America: Time to hit the streets? Augusta Chronicle Editorial Staff Sunday, February 22, 2009 Jim DeMint's gentlemanly air and refined tone belie a power and an urgency in his words. The stately senator from South Carolina sees America's unique centuries-old system of freedom dying out. And he thinks we may have to take to the streets to save it. "I would think it's time to start thinking about peaceful demonstrations," he told us last week. Seriously? "Seriously. "The power of the people is there. Freedom is in the people's hands right now, and it's about to slip through." Of...

We got the anti-stimulus, anti-entitlement protest ball rolling — and now the movement, spurred further by CNBC host Rick Santelli’s call for a “Chicago Tea Party,” is really taking off. He interviewed our registered commenters Liberty Belle Keli Carender, who spearheaded the Seattle anti-pork protest, and HuskerGirl Amanda Grosserode, who organized today’s anti-stimulus demonstration against Democrat Rep. UPDATE 2/20/09: It appears Obama’s White House is mocking CNBC’s Rick Santelli’s criticism of the Obama admin’s housing plan. Apparently: White House press secretary Robert Gibbs poked fun at Santelli by inviting him to come to the White House to read the details of Obama’s plan. “I’d be happy to buy him a cup of coffee,” Gibbs said. In a nod to Santelli’s caffeinated style, Gibbs then wryly added: “Decaf.” All I can say to Gibb and Obama is… PICK ME! PICK ME! I’m ready, you idiots….Back to your usual programming….~~~ Oh fer heavens sake, are these people brain dead...

[Ht/ Pharmboy] Joe Scarborough sent us a little love this morning . . . Morning Joe opened today with the instant-classic clip of CNBC’s Rick Santelli on the floor of the CBOE yesterday, calling out President Obama over the mortgage bailout. Scarborough seconded Santelli’s sentiment, but wondered whether Santelli was similarly outraged when the government was bailing out Wall Street. Mike Barnicle assured him that Santelli had not been: “No, he didn’t make the same argument when we bailed out Wall Street and he didn’t make the same argument when we bailed out General Motors.” Except Santelli did. I emailed...

The VIDEO that went viralFull Transcript (thanks to http://freedomeden.blogspot.com/2009/02/rick-santelli-tea-party.html) RICK SANTELLI: The government is promoting bad behavior. Because we certainly don't want to put stimulus forth and give people a whopping $8 or $10 in their check, and think that they ought to save it, and in terms of modifications... I'll tell you what, I have an idea. You know, the new administration's big on computers and technology-- How about this, President and new administration? Why don't you put up a website to have people vote on the Internet as a referendum to see if we really want to...
