Mandeville Police arrested an Abita Springs woman Wednesday (March 25) who allegedly tried to hide her impregnation through an extramarital affair by crying rape. Gina Louise Causey, 40, was charged with criminal mischief, police said. Causey showed up with her husband at police headquarters Tuesday, spinning a tale of being raped at gunpoint in December 2014 near the Mandeville lakefront, police said. In an interview with detectives, Causey also said the alleged perpetrator was a law enforcement officer who had raped several other women in the area and had now impregnated her. Her tale was an extravagant one - "like...

Just when you thought the Democrats’ callousness couldn’t get any worse, a Mississippi congressional candidate reaches a new low. Trish Causey, running for the Democrat nomination in MS-4, thought making a “National Masturbation Month” joke about murdered diplomats and Navy Seals was a good campaign move.

HOUSTON - Enron's former chief accounting officer, Richard Causey, has struck a plea bargain with federal prosecutors and will avoid going to trial with the fallen energy company's two top executives, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. Causey was expected to plead guilty Wednesday to one or more of the 34 criminal charges pending against him, this person told The Associated Press Tuesday on condition of anonymity because of the private nature of the discussions. Causey, 45, agreed to testify against his former bosses, Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay and former CEO Jeffrey Skilling, in exchange for a...

WASHINGTON -- President Bush was furious with the staff preparation for last week's inter-American summit in Argentina where his trade proposals ran into unexpected opposition. The president was reported as particularly unhappy with the work by his National Security Council staff in getting ready for the meeting. That added to Bush's distress in Buenos Aires, dealing with violent street demonstrators and hostile fellow presidents led by Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and including Argentina's Nestor Kirchner. The crowning indignity for Bush was the Friday night state dinner starting at 10 p.m., an hour when the president normally is in bed. He left...

HOUSTON - The fraud and conspiracy trial of Enron Corp. founder Kenneth Lay, former CEO Jeffrey Skilling and chief accounting officer Richard Causey will begin Jan. 17, 2006, a federal judge said Thursday. U.S. District Judge Sim Lake set the trial date for what is expected to be the premiere case to emerge from the Justice Department's investigation of the disgraced company that became the bankrupt embodiment of scandal and fraud in December 2001. Lay and Skilling had agreed to support Causey's choice of a Dec. 1 trial to accommodate the preparation needs of all the legal teams. Lay has...
