With all the smirking on the left about their electoral victories, it's important to remember that Democrats haven't won the hearts and minds of the American people. They changed the people. If you pour vinegar into a bottle of wine, the wine didn't turn, you poured vinegar into it. Similarly, liberals changed no minds. They added millions of new liberal voters through immigration. So why are Republicans like Trey Gowdy, Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and John Boehner making fools of themselves in order to spot the Democrats three more touchdowns? The House Republicans' "Standards for Immigration Reform," for example, contains...

Speaker of the House John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor were elevated to their positions through the hard work and votes of millions of limited government constitutional activists who made the 2010 Tea Party wave election possible. Yet from the moment he took the Speaker’s gavel Boehner has been intent on diluting the influence of the limited government constitutional conservatives in his own House Republican Conference and undermining – indeed often actively opposing – the agenda that the vast majority of House Republicans campaign on and voters expect them to enact. Boehner and Cantor’s latest betrayal of Republican voter...

With the President delaying, again, parts of Obamacare, House Republican Leader Eric Cantor and Speaker John Boehner have declared they will not raise the debt ceiling unless the President does two things: (1) delay Obamacare by a year and (2) approve the Keystone XL Pipeline. In fact, Congressman Paul Ryan is standing shoulder to shoulder with them, telling Robert Costa, “Shutting down the government puts us on the wrong side. The fight is on the debt limit”. Further, the GOP won’t even bother fighting on a continuing resolution because they feel so strongly the debt ceiling is the path forward...

We first heard rumblings of an internal challenge to John Boehner's wholly-ineffective 'leadership' back in 2010: it was Eric Cantor who looked like he might make a move, tho he quickly backed-off any idea of snatching the Speaker's gavel when support didn't materialize. But Cantor -who seems to have accomplished little of 'conservative' substance on Capitol Hill- hasn't stopped working on his slow, quiet coup either... Another obvious candidate some thought the Tea Party could get behind would be Paul Ryan ... but after his support for bad budget deals, open-borders-lite immigration legislation (since collapsed), ceaseless spying on US citizens, and...

Once thought of as a possibly more conservative alternative to establishment Republican Speaker John Boehner, establishment Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (VA-7) long ago proved he is fully invested in Boehner’s lobbyist-driven legislative agenda. The Murray-Ryan budget and Amnesty for illegal aliens are just the latest in a long list of betrayals conservatives have suffered at the hands of Eric Cantor. From breaking the spending caps in the sequester, to voting for the Wall Street bailout through the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), when faced with a choice between business -as -usual and fighting for limited- government constitutional conservative...

Former Rep. Allen West (R-FL), a leader in the conservative movement and retired Lt. Colonel of the United States Army, told Breitbart News that he thinks House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) might be trying to help the Obama administration cover up the Benghazi scandal. West is a signer of the letter from a coalition of conservative and military leaders, along with three family members of the victims in the Benghazi terrorist attack, that demanded Boehner create a select committee to investigate the Benghazi terrorist attack. Boehner has been blocking the House Resolution from...

If you ever doubted that money outweighs principles in contemporary politics, then the case of Richmond campaign consultant Boyd Marcus should permanently erase such ambiguity in your mind. Marcus, a prominent figure in Virginia politics for two decades, made headlines in August when he abandoned a lifetime of supporting Republicans to endorse Democrat Terry McAuliffe for governor. McAuliffe’s team and Marcus trumpeted the conversion as an important political sign that mainstream Republicans were rejecting the tea party conservatism espoused by GOP candidate Ken Cuccinelli II. Instead, we learned Thursday, the primary motive was entirely mercenary. An e-mail was made public...

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor pleaded for Republican unity here Saturday as he prodded his party to offer more solutions that make voters feel like they have their backs on “kitchen table” issues. The congressman, who represents a district around Richmond, told about 500 party activists during a lunch at The Homestead resort that the GOP does not need to compromise its core principles. “If we want to win, we must begin to offer solutions to the problems that people face every day,” he said. “We have not done this recently and it has allowed the Democrats to take power,...

Republican politicians have tried to pay homage on Facebook to the late Nelson Mandela since his death on Thursday, but many of their conservative supporters want to hear none of it. Peruse through comment sections of the GOP's Facebook tributes to Mandela, and there's a good chance you'll find plenty of vitriol for the former South African president and for the politicians who praised him. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) wrote that Mandela "will live in history as an inspiration for defenders of liberty around the globe." One commenter took a different view of the anti-apartheid leader's legacy, urging "all you...

Many CHQ readers might be inclined to bestow the dubious honor of being the Republican Party’s most important supporter of amnesty for illegal aliens upon two establishment Republicans; Senator John McCain and Lindsey Graham, or – to the great disappointment of the many Tea Party movement voters who backed them – to otherwise conservative Senators Marco Rubio and Jeff Flake. But we think that assessment is fair, but it misses a key piece of information that has been kept skillfully out of the public eye. McCain, Graham, Flake, and Rubio are influential, but none of them hold a leadership position...

The ex-chief of staff for House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (R-VA) helped Democrat Terry McAuliffe beat Republican Ken Cuccinelli in Virginia’s gubernatorial election race. Boyd Marcus, the chief of staff for Cantor until 2003—who later teamed with another GOP operative Ray Allen to found the firm Marcus Allen, which Cantor employed until earlier this year—joined the McAuliffe campaign after Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, with whom Marcus campaigned, did not win the GOP nominee in Virginia. “I was looking at the candidates, and I saw Terry McAuliffe as the guy who will work with everybody to get things done,” Marcus...

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) is planning to release legislation next week that would provide legal status for six years to undocumented immigrants in the United States, he said in an interview Wednesday. Issa, an influential Republican who leads the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, described the legislation as a “come-from-the-shadows” effort that would allow the government to do a full accounting of those who are in the U.S. illegally. Immigrants in this new status would be able to travel to their native country while on this temporary visa, he said.

A petition posted online by an activist group tied to the leftist MoveOn.org is calling for the immediate arrest of key Republican Party leaders on Capitol Hill, alleging they’ve committed egregious acts of betrayal against the United States.

The text posted at MoveOn Petitions: “I call on the Justice Department of the United States of America to arrest Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Speaker of the House John Boehner and other decision-making House Republican leaders for the crimes of seditious conspiracy against the United States of America.”

The Obama Administration has urged the House of Representatives to pass the immigration reform bill that would provide a pathway to citizenship to millions of undocumented people and accelerate the immigration of professionals from countries like India and China.

President Barack Obama spoke with House Speaker John Boehner on Friday but did not wholly accept the House Republican plan to open government, raise the debt ceiling and open budget talks, sources said. -snip- Senior Republican sources say Obama is amenable to changes to mandatory and discretionary spending, but needs Republicans to commit to increasing governmental revenue.

House Republican leaders are waiting to hear back from the White House after GOP staff sent over an informal proposal Thursday night that would raise the debt ceiling and create a process for reopening the government. Aides say President Barack Obama and Republicans are haggling over a deal that would lead to an end to the two-week-old government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling in exchange for a clear path to serious negotiations about spending and other fiscal issues. -snip- many Republicans are expected to still vote against such a deal. GOP leaders will likely need some Democratic votes to...

Time to primary every single one of these a**hats: House Republicans told Obama at the White House that they could reopen the federal government by early next week if the president and Senate Democrats agree to their debt-ceiling proposal. After the debt ceiling is lifted, a House GOP aide said they would seek some additional concessions in a government funding bill. Obama repeatedly pressed House Republicans to open the government, asking them “what’s it going to take to” end the shutdown, those sources said. He questioned why the government should remain closed if both sides agreed to engage in good-faith...

Divided government requires bipartisan negotiation By Eric Cantor, Published: October 8 Eric Cantor, a Republican from Virginia, is the House majority leader. For three years, Congress and the White House have been building to this moment. Not the debt limit or Obamacare specifically, but this clarifying moment of Washington dysfunction. President Obama has led us here by continually thwarting the will of Congress and dismissing its role in our constitutional republic. This must end. .... snip ....

Obama gives any delays that he wishes to and any time that he wants to by unilateral executive fiat. When Republicans offer up a delay that they wish to implement, they are told by Reid and other Dems that "It's (ObamaCare) the law." And right after saying "It's the law," Obama/Dems feel no obligation to not offer up another delay if and when they feel like it. Republicans are told that they aren't willing to compromise. Guess what? They offer up a compromise - they go from wanting to defunding ObamaCare to voting to delay its implementation for one year....
