Economics Professor Walter Block at Loyola University of New Orleans faces dueling petitions as students try to oust the self-described libertarian academic. Economics Professor Walter Block at Loyola University of New Orleans faces dueling petitions as students try to oust the self-described libertarian academic over what some claim are racist comments in The New York Times six years ago. Walter supposedly said slavery was “not so bad – you pick cotton and sing songs,†but his comments were so misconstrued by the Times that the publication settled with him in a defamation lawsuit.Nevertheless, students dedicated to “social justice†are now...

Juniata College, a small liberal arts college nestled in the hills of south-central Pennsylvania, has become the first college in the United States to order the removal of every urinal from campus. The vote by the college Board of Trustees was unanimous. The change was in response to an intense years-long campaign by a little-known, militant feminist group called Chicks Against Dicks (CAD). The group employed numerous tactics including petitions, lawsuits, and the occasional smashing of functioning campus urinals. Juniata President James A. Troha, androgynous but not transgender, was giddy over the vote. In remarks delivered breathelessly, Troha said, “Urinals...

This university has a strong liberal presence. You might remember that The Insurgent student newspaper at the U of O (in Eugene, 40 minutes away) printed pornographic drawing of Jesus Christ about a year ago. This was lauded by some here at OSU. The university has a very strong gay presence (with pride week, featuring "lube olympics" and other vile events). Despite the secularism and liberalism, the Catholic students here are pretty cool. Well, some friends of mine got the idea to "Saint bomb" campus. Using chalk, hundreds of Catholic Saint names were written all over campus last week. This...

2006: Turning point for young conservatives Posted: January 5, 2006 By Hans Zeiger Something big is going on in America, but few are yet aware of it. It is a generational shift comparable to that of the infamous '60s, and it will involve as much revolt and upheaval. In this case, revolution is desperately needed, for the previous revolution has almost destroyed the country. The new revolution will repair the country. Yet 2006 will not be the beginning of the revolution – it has already been gathering steam now for several years. But it will, I predict, commence the vigorous...

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 23 - A 24-year-old conservative alumnus who announced earlier this month that he planned to pay students at the University of California, Los Angeles, to tape-record the lectures of left-leaning professors backed down after U.C.L.A. officials informed him on Monday that he would be violating school policy. The alumnus, Andrew Jones, said he abandoned the plan to save his student supporters from possible legal action by the university, even though he believed they would be engaged in a "newsgathering" effort protected by the First Amendment. Mr. Jones says he is confident that students will volunteer to tape...

As a student minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Kent during the events of May 4, 1970, William Schultz read a poem during the only memorial service to be held immediately following the events. “All of the (other) churches refused to perform a memorial,” he said. Thirty-five years later, Schultz, now executive director of Amnesty International, said though it may seem like the Ohio National Guard wasn’t held accountable for the shootings, the activism started and strengthened by those events will fully overcome them. Schultz delivered the keynote address during the annual May 4 commemoration at Kent State University...

When you think the Holy Catholic Church cannot possibly endure further attacks or dissent from within, something painfully happens to prove the contrary. The official web site of St. Joseph's University - a Jesuit institution established in 1851 in Philadelphia - openly announces a pro-homosexual event called "Rainbow Week." According to information posted on this website, a "Mass for Rainbow Week" on October 10 was celebrated in the campus chapel to mark the beginning of the weeklong program. Among other pro-homosexual activities, a morally offensive exhibit titled "Love Makes a Family" will display photos of "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender...
