During the campaign for the two Georgia Senate races, Joe Biden repeatedly promised to pass $2,000 stimulus checks if the Democrats won. After they did, the administration argued that $2,000 really meant $1,400 in addition to the $600 that had already gone out in the December rescue package. Whether that is true or not, now Biden is inarguably breaking his promise. Under pressure from moderate Senate Democrats, he has reportedly agreed to cut down the formula under which the checks will be sent out. In the previous packages, the amount started phasing out at $75,000 in income for individuals and...

It is a contract between myself and the American voter – and begins with restoring honesty, accountability and change toWashington Therefore, on the first day of my term of office, my administration will immediately pursue the following six measures to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington,DC: ◠FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress; ◠SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal work force through attrition...

Like anyone who has ever decided to run for president, Donald Trump is a man who makes promises. Some are bold and stunning: he'll build a 50-foot high wall along the United States' southern border -- and he'll get Mexico to pay for it! If he wins the presidency, in his first term, he'll knock out Obamacare, Common Core, the Environmental Protection Agency, and defund Planned Parenthood! He'll even force cookie company Nabisco to make its Oreos in America again! It's hard to predict whether he will be able to deliver on those pledges after the election. But it might...

Presidential campaigns are long in the making, quick to be forgotten. But one part of them lives on for years: the victor’s promises. President Barack Obama paved his path to re-election with fewer promises than in 2008. The ones he did lay down, though, are meaty, legacy-shaping for him and consequential to ordinary lives today and for generations to come, for better or worse. They also are extraordinarily difficult to achieve in a time of gridlock grief and budgets that are tight when they are not paralyzed. … Whatever a candidate’s promises, legacies are made by how a president manages...

Despite everyone's expectations, getting President Obama and the new Republican majority in the House to work together shouldn't really be that difficult. At least it shouldn't be difficult if both sides just keep their campaign promises. In his election night remarks, Rep. John Boehner (R-OH), the leader of the new House Republican majority, promised: "[The Republican agenda] starts with cutting spending instead of increasing it. Reducing the size of government instead of expanding it." Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made the same pledge. Despite the 21.4 percent increase in federal spending during the first two years of his...

During the campaign, President Obama called George Bush's response to Katrina "unconscionable incompetence." What can our president say about his own lackadaisical response to the BP oil spill catastrophe? As pointed out by Toby Harnden in a devastating piece in the Telegraph , Obama's only recourse is to lie: "Even judging Obama by his words, he has fallen woefully short over what has now eclipsed the 1989 Exxon Valdez wreck as biggest oil spill catastrophe in American history. He may have described it as an 'unprecedented disaster' in last Thursday's press conference but a week into the crisis he was...

At a recent Democratic Party fundraiser, President Barack Obama claimed to have cut taxes and therefore was "amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes." He added, "You would think they would be saying thank you." Instantly the video was playing everywhere and everyone was horrified or thrilled (depending on their political persuasion) at the president's mocking tone and obvious contempt for the Tea Party protesters. As usual with Mr. Obama, the truth is intentionally lost in his rhetoric and his polarizing brand of "charm".

On January 27th, 2010 President Barack Obama delivered his first official State of the Union Address. The speech to me had both a campaign feel, and a Carter-esque “Malaise speech” feel to it. I will explain that later on. In watching Barack Obama’s speech, there was a certain feel to it. It was a very good speech …. But only if you live in a fool’s paradise. In watching the speech, I thought that Barack Obama tried to re-ignite that almost “spiritual sensationalism” he inflicted in his most ardent supporters during the 2008 campaign....

To my Conservative Friends: In watching the Chosen One's endless droning on the other day in the first ever State of the Union speech which, ironically, never addressed the state of our Union, I was spitting mad at the LIES and distortion's the Bam-Man made during the address... Every time he made a statement, I found myself knowing what Joe Wilson must have felt when he yelled "You Lie!!!" to the Messiah at the last address of the Prophet-in-Chief to Congress.. I kept debating which of his lies was most infuriating. So, I decided to ask my fellow conservatives, which...

John McCain has run against Barack Obama before. He's running against him again. With campaign radio ads billing the five-term Republican senator as "Arizona's last line of defense,'' the GOP's nominee for president in 2008 is attempting to bolster his 2010 campaign for reelection to the Senate with a slam at the president. "President Obama is leading an extreme left-wing crusade to bankrupt America,'' McCain says in one of the radio ads his campaign is airing. "I stand in his way every day,'' McCain says. "If I get a bruise or two knocking some sense into heads in Washington, so...

But now, with Democrats in charge of the entire U.S. government and George Bush nowhere to be found, Pelosi and others in her party are suddenly very, very worried about U.S. escalation in Afghanistan. “There is serious unrest in our caucus,” the speaker said recently. There is so much unrest that Democrats who show little concern about the tripling of already-large budget deficits say they’re worried about the rising cost of the war. It is in that atmosphere that Obama makes his West Point speech. He had to make certain promises to get elected. Unlike some of his supporters, he...

Read Obama's Lips; No new taxes on the Middle Class! Yeah right! So how does one defend the indefensible? Obama Press Secretary Robert Gibbs does it by a number of amateurish debating ploys when asked if his boss will break his word and raise taxes on the middle class. He defects, he demeans and he obfuscates. Some say that his antics are down right arrogant. Interestingly enough he has not had to defend his boss against a hostile press like the anti-Bush press. No on the contrary Obama’s press has been an awestruck and worshipping press. But apparently things are...

Turks need to learn the true history of their past. By order of the Islamist Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Turkish schoolchildren – including Armenians whose ancestors perished in the Genocide - are forced to watch “Sari Gelin,” a so-called documentary of “the events of 1915” that teaches – among other things – that Armenians boiled and ate Turkish children. To see for yourself, click here (35 seconds into this video clip “witness” Mehmet Akçal, 105, of Saimbeyli, Adana, claims: “Not one Muslim man was left. They were imprisoned and killed. Children were boiled in water. They said, ‘We are...

Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day has become something akin to Groundhog Day - but re-imagined as a Kabuki play directed by Rod Serling: There are the usual somber processions; Turkey’s 94-year campaign of denial; co-sponsors signing on to a symbolic Congressional resolution ultimately doomed to die without a floor vote; and a carefully crafted statement by a U.S. president that acknowledges the day without naming the monstrous act that makes the day significant. Everyone has his part to play and everyone plays his part the exact same way year in, year out. This year, however, new drama was injected into the highly...

Despite his solemn promise to the American people to keep lobbyists out of his Admkinistration, two more have slipped in. The latest waivers were provided for Jocelyn Frye, director of policy and projects in the Office of First Lady, and Cecilia Munoz, director of intergovernmental affairs in the executive office of the president. Munoz was a senior vice president for the National Council of La Raza. She was heavily involved in the immigration battles in Congress in recent years, and is now a principal liason to the Hispanic community for the administration.

In the matter of just 50 days, a fissure has widened into a split; the split has become a gap; and the gap is becoming a gulf. I have in mind the extraordinary contradiction between what President Obama says and what he does. Consider a partial list, starting with earmarks. During the campaign, Obama said, "the truth is, our earmark system -- what's called pork-barrel spending in Washington -- is fraught with abuse. It badly needs reform -- which is why I didn't request a single earmark last year, why I've released all my previous requests for the public to...

FNC just announced that HBO paid BHO millions of dollars to run a 4-hour concert that will only be made available to those who have HBO or digital cable. There are also some other events that have been bought and paid for that millions of Americans will not be able to see as BHO has received money for exclusive rights. One of these programs is right on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The guest from MRC on Fox said that he doubts any other networds will report on this. So much for Obama's promise to be a president "for...

Anyone have, can point me to, or is keeping, a list of Obama's promises, complete with citations, dates, locations, etc? Yes, I do plan on using it to ask my local Obama-ites, "What, you actually BELIEVED those promises"???

As those attending McCain rallies have testified, voters are worried about what will happen if Obama is elected President. I suggest Obama issue promises to sooth worried voters: 1. When I am elected President, women of America need not worry about clothing. The government will pay for two burkas for every woman over 14 years of age. And as long as they wear the burka when out in public, they will not have to worry about rape. 2. When I am elected President, Christian churches need not worry about finances. The Government will pay for all churches seized under eminant...
