During the 2000 campaign, George W. Bush laid out a set of principles regarding campaign reform that were sound and sensible. When I heard them I thought, 'Well, at least if Bush is elected president we won't have to worry about McCain/Feingold (the Senate version of campaign finance reform legislation) or Shays/Meehan (the House version).'
