Shawn Miller had been a music teacher at Westmont Hilltop Elementary School for decades until resigning in 2020 after being placed on administrative leave, according to police. However, according to his arrest affidavit, the school and police investigated him 9 years prior. He was detained yesterday for allegedly raping a 9-year-old student in 2015. Shawn Miller was arrested Monday and placed into the Cambria County Jail on allegations of raping a nine-year-old student in his classroom in 2015. According to his arrest affidavit, Upper Yoder Police have school records dating back to 2011 that show harassment and inappropriate touching of...

Miller did not vote for Donald Trump in 2016; he didn’t vote for Hillary Clinton, either. He said he is a retired insurance manager and does not like what he sees coming from the party he has been a part of his adult life. “I just get tired of the game-playing that the Democrats are doing. Everything's just so disgusting today. Something has to change. Well, something's going to change,” he said. Miller is not alone. For the first time that anyone could remember, Cambria County is no longer dominated by Democratic voter registrations. They lost that dominance quietly on...

The plant is expected to go online early this month after being finished in just six months, unusually fast in California. Projects of this sort typically take years, and often decades, of environmental reviews, public hearings and lawsuits. Dozens of other cities and towns over the years have considered desalination plants as the way out of water shortages. Critics, however, say the technology is expensive, energy intensive and produces huge amounts of brine waste that damages the environment. California has 11 other desalination plants, and another 16 proposed. Citing Brown's drought declaration, San Luis Obispo County and local Cambria officials...

CAMBRIA, Calif. - An earthquake rocked the central coast Monday and sent tremors across a wide swath of Southern California. The quake was felt as a sustained but gentle rolling motion in downtown Los Angeles. The U.S. Geological Survey gave it a preliminary magnitude of 6.5 and said it was centered north of the coastal town of Cambria. Cambria is about 185 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The site is only a few miles from San Simeon, William Randolph Hearst's castle. Calls to the castle did not immediately go through.
