The FBI seized the phones of NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban and other high-ranking department officials as part of a city corruption investigation, according to law enforcement sources. Federal officials took the devices from Caban and two NYPD lieutenants who worked in the commissioner’s office and on his detail, sources said. The phone of a lieutenant in the 10th Precinct was also confiscated. The FBI also requested NYPD Chief of Staff Raul Pintos and two precinct commanders in Queens and Manhattan turn over their phones, according to sources.

A top aide to embattled New York Police Department Commissioner Edward Caban is associated with shadowy groups that do the bidding of the Chinese Communist Party, The Post has learned. Lin Gui’an, 49, the assistant director of the Police Commissioner Liaison Unit, was previously vice chairman of a nonprofit linked to a web of CCP-controlled community groups and school associations, known as United Front, for 12 years, according to records viewed by The Post. He has also been pictured attending events alongside prominent members of United Front groups or sponsored by them. The role of United Front is to spread...

NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban quietly traveled to Qatar late last week for a conference and has yet to return to New York City – even as the department braces for potential unrest Friday related to a global “day of jihad” called by the Hamas terrorist group’s ex-chief. Caban, who sources say is visiting the Middle Eastern country for a two-day “Arab Tourism Security Forum,” was noticeably absent from Thursday’s City Hall briefing where officials discussed the NYPD’s decision to ramp up patrols out of “an abundance of caution.” The overseas trip by the city’s top cop was unannounced and multiple...

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) announced Monday that Edward Caban will be the next head of the city’s police department, making him the first Latino officer to lead the branch since its establishment. “We knew we had to get it right. We knew we had to appoint the right person. And I saw in Eddie long ago, the possibility. I knew that there was something special about Edward Caban,” Adams said. “I’ve watched him, his discipline, his attitude, the diversity of the people who constantly told me what he meant to them.”

Two days before a maniac stabbed to death a veteran EMT lieutenant and grandmother in Astoria on Thursday, defund-the-police-promoting Queens Councilwoman Tiffany Caban and Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani released a “public safety” guide discouraging merchants from calling the cops. The guide from the two Democrats urges small business owners to dial 311, seek mental health services for people with mental illnesses, and engage in “community mediation” instead of calling 911 to summon the police when there is trouble in many cases. It also advises merchants to “give the person causing harm the chance to correct their behavior” before seeking intervention. “Say...
