    LAURA BUSH ON C-SPAN2 VIDEO
I just got home and found out I had missed Laura Bush on C-SPAN2 tonight. She was on at 6:30cst for 1hr 13 min. I was really disappointed since I really wanted to record it. Anyway the good news for those of you that missed her book tour event, this is basically it on video. She will do a reading and is then interviewed by Cokie Roberts for an hour. I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m sure it is good. Hopefully Cokie Roberts will be respectful. Most of the time I can download video from the web using Realplayer, but not always. Since C-span sells the videos for $30 they block the download. If anyone was able to record off the tv I would love a copy. I will continue to look for a replay on TV.

There is a birthday party at the Bush Library on June 10th for Bar’s 85th and Poppy’s 86th. I’m hoping to be able to go, if I can talk my friend into it. It is a 2.5 hour drive from here in College Station TX. I’m sure there will be hundreds of people there and probably outside. Hopefully I can take some pics. At the Laura event there were no camera’s allowed.

I was just looking at the Golfweek picture where the guy says Pres Bush is only 5’9”.. If you look at the waistline of the guy beside the President it is at least 6” higher than Dubya’s - the rest of his body is the same as the President. Either the guy has really, really long legs and out of proportion, or he is standing uphill to Dubya on the side of a golf green. As good as standing on a box.

What a great video. I really enjoyed it. The end was very interesting when he was asked about his political future and he said he made the right decision to be the Rangers GM, but that he would be on the bench for the future.

    Hello All,

I attended “An Evening with Laura Bush” tonight in Austin. My friend and I were there with 1000 other adoring fans of Laura and George. Before she came out they came over the loud speaker and said that we needed to obey the Riverbend Guest rules that require you to sit quietly when the speaker comes in. So we all sat there quietly and the interviewer from the Austin Statesman came out and gave an introduction.. THEN Laura came out and everybody jumped up and yelled and cheered. It was great. I think she really loved being back in Austin. Karen Hughes was there and sat right in front on Laura. I was in the 3rd roll over to the side.. She was probably 30 feet away.

Laura started by reading from her book and then answered questions from the reporter. She was so relaxed and funny. I think she knew we were like family. She was as charming and cute as you would expect. There were probably planned questions, but also questions from the audience. She had interesting and funny answers to all. As part of the ticket price we got a signed copy of her book. I already had one from the pre-order, so now I have a special one that won’t be read.

My friend and I got there an hour and a half early and went in to get good seats. We talked to everyone around us and it was great to have all of these George and Laura fans in one room. I had just a wonderful time and one more wonderful memory to add to my collection.

    Hi DrDeb

I just read the article from Hillbuz and was going to post it here because everyone needs to see it. It was just thrilled to see that doubters are finally seeing what we always knew. I hope the President surfs the net.
I just submitted the link to Drudge report - hope he posts it so it will really take off.

I wondered if you would be in Dallas tomorrow. My husband and I are driving up from Austin in the morning. I am just so excited. You probably already know that you can’t take a purse or camera into the auditorium. Cellphones are allowed though. Have a wonderful time at the event.

    Hi Snugs,

The football player that has escorted Condi on several occasions was Gene Washington. He is very distinguished looking. I remember Gene Upshaw’s name during the players strikes during past years. I’m sorry to hear about his passing so quickly.

I was watching the May-Walsh volleyball match the other night when they thanked the President. I was really surprised and very pleased.

    Hi Notes,
Thanks for the link, but I already had shockwave. I had no problem watching the video on line, but after I downloaded it I couldn't get it to run. What I did was
convert it from an avi movie to an mpeg using a program I found at this site http://www.imtoo.com/avi-mpeg-converter.html. It now works on my desktop. I may be the only one with this problem, but this worked for me. So far this program hasn't caused a problem. I did set a restore point prior to downloading just in case. Thanks again for the beautiful video.

Wow, what a great video! I downloaded it, but couldn't get it to play.. What am I missing. When I tried Real player it wanted DVX or something like that... Windows media player sent me to find the program that was used to make it. It decided Irfanview was needed, but that didn't work either. Anyone else try to download and play it. Maybe my computer is just the problem.

  • Tony Snow's Cancer Has Spread to Liver (Breaking News!)

I just heard Dr. Manny Alvarez on Fox News talking about Tony's diagnosis. He sounded more positive than I expected. It sounded like liver cancer that spreads from colon cancer is different than cancer that starts in the liver. He said it is not uncommon that when colon cancer metastizes it spreads to the liver. He said that because they have been monitoring him very often and that the lesion is small that should be treatable. They removed the lesion and will analyze the type of cells and then decide what type of chemo. He said they can deliver treatment right into the liver at the site of the lesion. He said it is very possible that Tony will again be in remission. I hope he is right. Prayers for Tony and his family

I just wish the SMU folks had started all of this negative stuff earlier. I'm afraid its almost too late now. My vote is with Baylor. They have a beautiful 100 acre site on the Brazos River proposed + its only 80 miles from my house.

I'm hoping that now that he's seen Dubya's take on the ISG
(piece of garbage)that he will mend his ways. James Baker
can probably be pretty persuasive, but Dubya can be even
more persuasive. Once he's around our wonderful President
for awhile he will get the spirit. I think he's a doer, he
    just needs some Texas guidance.

BTW - my son works at a Private Airport Terminal and met
Bush 41 and Bar a couple of weeks ago... He was amazed at
how young Poppy looked. He said he could pass for being in
his 50's (I think he was a little low, but he was impressed)
He said he bounded down the stairs, said hello, was very
friendly and saluted when he left. He definitely made an
impression. He couldn't quit talking about it.

When I wrote to the President a couple of weeks ago I told
him about that and also about seeing his Dad and sister at a
TX A&M lecture at the Library. Doro was just so cute and
bubbly. Very fresh after signing 400 books and I was melting.

    Hi Wolfstar,
I'm a daily lurker, but wanted to make a comment about Bob Gates. I have reservations about him too, but thought you might find this interesting. I went to our Grandaughter's Texas A&M Graduation on Friday. Bob Gates officiated as the A&M President. He had been there for 4 years and officiated at 38 ceromonies. A&M is a very conservative and very military school. They absolutely loved him and were proud that he was going to be the next Sec of Defense. They listed his accomplishments over his 4 years and they were very impressive. A 1998 grad that had served 2 tours in Iraq, is currently attending the GHW Bush school at A&M and on his way to being an instructor for the Military spoke very highly of him too.

I am very disappointed that Rummy is gone and know that no one can possibly take his place, but based on what I saw and heard on Friday I am going to try to keep an open mind and hope that he will be supportive of our President and Victory. I hope this helps a little.

  • A Special Anniversary Tribute.......on the 29th Anniversary of George and Laura Bush!

    Hello Ohio,
Thank you for again posting a marvelous tribute to our President and First Lady. I do hope they see it. Last year I printed it and took it with me to the GHWB Library and gave it to Poppy's personal secretary to give to them. I just saw GHWB again and his daughter Doro. I didn't meet Poppy, but did meet Doro and she was so cute and bubbly even after signing at least 400 books. Their talk was wonderful with overflow crowds. I gave Doro a note to ask her brother to put his library in Waco and I would volunteer for him. I also went up to a guy guarding a door that people kept going in and out of. I asked him if he was with the foundation or Secret Service, he said Secret Service. I was thrilled. He told me what an nice person Poppy was and that even thought the SS laws were changed in 97 to stop SS protection 10 yrs after a President left office, he thought Dubya would be an exception since he is a wartime President. I do hope so. A wonderful time at the Library.
Thanks again Ohio for all you do.

I am going to the GHWB Presidential library on Oct 26 to listen to a "Conversation with GHWB and his daughter Doro Bush Koch". Her new book will be out soon, "My Father, My President". I'm going to print out this picture and one of him and Dubya and try to get an autograph. I may not even be able to get close enough, but I will definitely try.

Thanks Snugs for posting my pic. For those who don't know the President is shaking hands with Chris Simms,Tampa Bays QB. He graduated from the University of Texas. He's been having a tough season, so Dubya gave him a pep talk.
