I just heard Dr. Manny Alvarez on Fox News talking about Tony's diagnosis. He sounded more positive than I expected. It sounded like liver cancer that spreads from colon cancer is different than cancer that starts in the liver. He said it is not uncommon that when colon cancer metastizes it spreads to the liver. He said that because they have been monitoring him very often and that the lesion is small that should be treatable. They removed the lesion and will analyze the type of cells and then decide what type of chemo. He said they can deliver treatment right into the liver at the site of the lesion. He said it is very possible that Tony will again be in remission. I hope he is right. Prayers for Tony and his family

I heard Dr Manny speaking about this on FNC about a half hour ago, but couldn't remember specifically all he said...
Many more prayers for Tony and his family...

It makes sense that if the Pet Scan did not pick up the Cancer, then the Lesion was too small. This is a positive sign I believe. I had a pet scan in late 2005 because my Gastro Doctor freaked out when she saw something in the lower part of my Lung that was picked up on the film from a ct scan of the Abdominal area. Since I had previously had Colon Cancer even though it was 9 years before, they were very quick to do a Ct Scan of the Lungs themselves, and a Pet scan which is a lot better than a Ct scan for showing Cancer. The only problem is that none of the Several spots on the lungs were big enough for the Pet scan (has to be a certain size for it to show up on pet scan) and so they keep doing Ct scans every 6 months to make sure that they have not grown. They chalk these things up to scars in lung tissues from Numerous bouts of Chronic Bronchitis and Pneumonia. These things do not show up on Lung Xrays normally.

Thanks for that positive news. It is strange how some cancers are treatable, and some are not.
