What is the phrase? Oh yea: “Denial isn’t a river in Egypt” They say it to alcoholics in an intervention and to abducted kids suffering from Stockholm syndrome. Its cliché, but now is a point of massive irony. To start, allow me to recall the tale of the esteemed immunologist, David Baltimore. Dr. Baltimore is a Nobel laureate, chairman of the board of director of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and holds a professorship at CalTech. However in spite of his current position his reputation has been permanently scared by a scandal in the early 1990’s at...

My father was a man of great principle. In raising seven children to be responsible adults, his strident adherance to his principles were the thing that kept order in the house and his sanity. My sisters hated him for it. He died when I was only fourteen but he passed his fidelity on to me and my only brother. He used to tell me that a man has to believe in things. “The only thing you get by being in the middle of the road is run over!” or “if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything” and...

For the life of me I cannot understand why George W. Bush would throw his own party, its fundamental principles and it presidential candidate under the bus to bail out what in my mind is indefensible. Bush knows as we all know that Henry Paulson is a limousine liberal financier in the molding of Jon Corzine and Robert Ruben. He hired him for the same reason he hired Paul Allen at the beginning. But Allen had the decency to shaft him after he left the White House. Is this a crisis? Yes. Do we need to fix it? Yes and...

Snip- There are still millions of potential voters across the U.S. who haven’t learned the truth about Governor Palin’s brutal aerial hunting program -- millions who don’t yet know about her proposal to dole out $150 for the severed forelegs of dead wolves. Help us expose the awful truth about Sarah Palin before it’s too late. Tell others about Governor Sarah Palin’s record on the brutal and unethical hunting of wolves from airplanes. With your help, we can ensure that voters know the truth about Sarah Palin.

Let us swing the door ajar and invite the elephant into the room. One big reason why Barack Obama is locked in a tight race, rather than easily outdistancing his opponent, is because he is black. (snip) Union organizers in the key state of Michigan complain in the press that, as one puts it, “we’re all struggling to some extent with the problem of white workers who will not vote for Obama because of his color.” An aging mine electrician in Kentucky is quoted elsewhere as saying, “I won’t vote for a colored man. He’ll put too many coloreds in...

This isn’t hard to see but many here who don’t. But the reasons are right in front of our face. We have lost heart. We have become so blinded by our pet issues that many would be willing to sell us all down the river for whatever species of bug that’s up our ass. We are enraged over issues of illegal immigration, spending, abortion or free trade. These are issues that cross party lines. There are pro-life, fiscally conservative, pro-gun, secure-the-border Democrats. But they don’t share our basic values. We forget that on most issues most members of our party...
  • Palin's speech to nowhere (3 bag hurl alert!)

It was a Speech to Nowhere when Palin said that "I told the Congress 'Thanks but no thanks' on that Bridge to Nowhere, because that was a lie, and the worst kind of lie in American politics, a blatant falsehood that showed utter contempt for the American people that Palin pledged to serve, assuming we are too stupid to look up or know that truth, that she pushed for those funds in Congress and while she got great political mileage out of announcing that she was killing the project, she still has not returned the funds to American people.

    1. He’s desperate. Let’s stop pretending this race is as close as national polling suggests. The truth is McCain is essentially tied or trailing in every swing state that matters — and too close for comfort in several states like Indiana and Montana the GOP usually wins pretty easily in presidential races. On top of that, voters seem very inclined to elect Democrats in general this election — and very sick of the Bush years.

Dear Senator Specter As my only local federal elected official from my own party I am calling on you to take action to relieve the current and most unnecessary energy crisis. I have no choice in my energy consumption. I am a research pharmacologist working for a local pharmaceutical. I live in Ambler, but my office is in Princeton NJ. I often go to our main lab in Collegeville which is just as fuel consumptive as Princeton. I already drive a very fuel efficient car. I car pool when I can. But I don’t always have the same work schedule...

Ok I get it. You don't like McCain and neither do I. I think he is a Bob Dole like candidate something you have said before. But I have to take issue that there is not difference between the Democrats and McCain on the war. To claim that OBAMA or Hildebeast (her thighness) would not pull the troops out of Iraq is just wishful thinking. You are giving them far too much credit. Don’t forget the primary symptom of liberal-itis is myopia (that and a bug in the bum). They don’t give a damn about the long term consequences ANY...

Every year my family celebrates the 4th of July attending a large picnic at our swim club. I have been coming to this club since I was a child and often see old friends I haven’t seen in years at this function. When I was younger and my children were smaller it was also a local family reunion hosted my either my sister or myself as we were the only members after my parents past away. It is one of the most fun family oriented occasions one could ask for complete with sack and egg races, softball games, and cannonball...

As I said in a previously posted essay at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1631321/posts We are not helping the tone of good debate. “Secure the border!” Right on I say!! “Throw out the wetbacks! Especially the Mexicans!!!” I totally agree. Words mean things and “illegal” means “its agin the law ya moron!” But ever since Reagan granted the first round of amnesty back in the 80’s the genie has been out of the bottle. We are paying a very steep price for the liberal pandering to vocal minorities. But shrill rhetoric and the single mindedness on display in this forum is not helpful. Many...

Do you ever feel like your in an alternative reality? These days I do! Some things do not make sense! How can we be in the middle of a time where we are actively pursuing an enemy who has been a thorn in America’s side for nearly 30 years (since the overthrow of the Shah of Iran) and winning the fight to boot, and yet we are told that America has lost it’s stomach for a fight? If the war sucks so bad, where are the soldiers coming home with tales of horror and woe? Where are the cargo planes...

To our valiant armed forces serving in Iraq, Afganistan, or other overseas postings... It is time for you to take a stand and not be silent anymore! You have laptops and internet access. Just as you showed yourself in the Limbaugh "Club GitMo" gallery, It is time that you flood the New York Times, Washinton Post, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox News with tales of your success "in country" (to use a Vietnam era phrase). Our CIC has done a poor job of late of toating your vicory there. This is not Vietman. I remember Vietnam. This is more...

Ok Mr Bush now that you have been re-elected you now have a renewed respect in the world of finance and international affairs. I have one request: USE YOUR BLOODY INFUENCE TO READ THE RIOT ACT TO GARY BETTMAN AND THE NHL AND NHLPA TO BRING BACK HOCKEY!!!!! Even though the Eagles are awsome, man cannot live on football alone! I hate basketball! This would make peace with Boston, New England in general, and our Canadian neighbors. I need the Flyers!!! I bleed orange and black!!! You and your brother had a cup more recently that we deprived Flyeres fans!!...

Keep the faith folks! Fast Eddy Rendell (Gov. PA) was on Comcast Sportsnet following the Eagles game. The Birds won a squeeker agianst the Revens yet the "Gov" did not look happy on any of the Q&A. He sung the praises of the Eagles but he was noticiblby subduede in his enthusaism. He is a politician before all else. He knows something we don't and his body language on the post game showed it all! Maybe he knows Kerry is going down and he is not happy?

I missed the debat last night. My 87 year old mom had a pulmonary embolism from a DVT in her leg last month. She's been in the hospital for a while. 2 days ago she got pnuemonia. She was a HUGE Bush supporter. Last night she went into respirattory arrest. When I saw her the debate was on on a TV in the ICU. She looked at me and asked me "Hows he doing?" Pray for her. It wont be long.

I think that it is safe to say that this whole Rathergate/memogate stuff at this point is just out of control. If your ten year old got caught in a fib and continued to behave in this way even the most "progressive" of parents would would have this child have a close encounter with a razor strap. So why is CBS carrying on this way? I have heard many intresting theories posted here, on talk radio, and other places. So let's review some of them. First we all know that the Swift Boat dudes was a shot in Kerry's solar...
