To our valiant armed forces serving in Iraq, Afganistan, or other overseas postings...
It is time for you to take a stand and not be silent anymore! You have laptops and internet access. Just as you showed yourself in the Limbaugh "Club GitMo" gallery, It is time that you flood the New York Times, Washinton Post, CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, and Fox News with tales of your success "in country" (to use a Vietnam era phrase). Our CIC has done a poor job of late of toating your vicory there. This is not Vietman. I remember Vietnam. This is more like Germany during WWII. with a conquered but with an unrepentant fanatical resistance hoping against hope for some redemption. You can make a difference by not being passive against these slackers who call themselves "journalists". You can still deliver the victory that you have earned. If Katherine McPhee can survive American Idol due to an onslaught of vote such as I did and eliminate Chris Daughtry... In the words of George Patton... OK you SOB's... You know what to do...
Kraft the e-mail and send it over and over again... Get you message out!!! To the outlets mentioned above...cc'd to Limbaugh, Fox News, Hannity, Washington Times, New York Post, and New York Sun... Get your story out!!! Do not be afraid. Don't leave your successes to to DOD or the White House as that give political angles to your stories. Give your yarns first hand and defend your honor!!!
It's our job to protect their backs here on the North American front of this World War.
The political war, the one the enemy is fighting and our troops are in no position to fight, is our responsibility.
Some admin. people might have Internet access, but I'd be really surprised if enlisted combat platoon soldiers do.
Well our son and the men in his unit did and they are (were) Infantry stationed in FOBs (Forward Operating Bases). I'm sure there's monitoring going on but they could be surprisingly candid.
I believe there are usually standing orders to STFU when it comes to the press, and let designated individuals do the talking so as not to compromise any missions/individuals and/or send mixed messages. That's why the military has a chain-of-command and specific duties for specific individuals.
Just about every troop everywhere has internet access albeit slow and not often enough.
If I were in their position political activism would be the last thing on my mind. That's our job, along with the people elected to represent us.
Like they aren't doing enough already.
And when they do have the time/access they want to be writing Parents, Sweethearts, Wives, Husbands, Children.....While stressing about all the things "WE" normally have , Plus wondering what the next day will be like in a war zone.
Sounds like a full plate to me.
It seems to me that we are already asking for quite a bit from these heros. Maybe after they get back home, rest a bit and get back into the rhythm normal life. Maybe then you could ask for something a little more. As for myself, I feel that they will have done quite enough.
Hmmm.....I suppose you have never been to the FR Canteen to see all of the troops that are currently posting.
It's our job to protect their backs
Amen!
Oh I have, many times, I love it, sort of like the troops have a extended family.
Eh, they're a little busy right now.
