When I was growing up, I always found myself feeling engrossed in my own widely absent mind. I was there, but only in body. My mind was elsewhere. Always deeply absorbed in the music I was listening to. I guess that’s something that hasn’t vastly altered much about me. I did, however, find my mind sometimes harder to manipulate with music. Not often, but enough. That’s the thing with mental illness though. Specifically, depression. It has a surprising and tedious way of making the things you love and find comfort in abundant.

Potentiam is a decentralized & incentivized music platform that aims to bring music creatives into direct contact with their target market. Through the Potentiam platform, creatives can fund and promote themselves without the need to rely on middlemen. Through Potentiam tokens (PTM), there becomes an economic incentive for new users to stay and use the platform. This translates into a much stronger community that artists can then leverage in-order to promote and fund themselves. Creators can also crowdfund on the Potentiam platform through what are known as “Decryption tokens”. These tokens are exchanged for raising project funds which are then...

In these times of ICO’s boom, the various platforms and innovative projects that come to us based on blockchain technology certainly cover all types of areas, ensuring a rapid evolution of the acceptance of this technology in everyday life. In the case of the music industry, blockchain technology makes it possible to realize one of the dreamed premises: decentralizing the omnipotence of the big fishes of the music industry in favor of musicians, composers, and performers. And without leaving aside the fans. On this occasion, we will talk about the Potentiam project and its interesting proposal for the music sector.

REcoin was initially touted as a coin offered with backing in real estate assets purchased with proceeds from the ICO. Zaslavskiy told investors that the company had a ‘team of lawyers, professionals, brokers and accountants’ that would complete the purchases, when in fact, no one had been hired. He also indicated to investors that he had raised between $2 and $4 mln, when the actual figure was closer to $300,000.

Upon first impressions, Tally Spear's new song 'Days Like These' reminds me of a younger sounding Amy MacDonald, (minus the Scottish accent) and the raw innocence of Elena Tonra who fronts the indie folk band, Daughter. The 21-year-old singer has been inspired by her Father’s folk collection which comprised of the great musicians of the 1960s, including Bob Dylan and Neil Young. ‘Days Like These’ is a beautifully sung poem, accompanied by simple guitar chords, a clappable drum beat, and tuneful harmonica.

The music industry is currently in need of a fresh injection, and a much-needed overhaul. The industry currently takes 86% of artist’s takings. Music creatives often find themselves ignored by Media conglomerates, lacking that exposure and funding to help propel the avenue to gain them recognition for their art. The music industry is in need of a system that provides clarity for the contributors and offers an honest platform to interact with the artists and fans. This is why this writer is passionate about Potentiam, a new project created to give a voice to music artists, writers, influencers, and the...
  • Musicians are the least well-funded body in the music industry?

It's funny how most people come to the conclusion musicians are the least funded in the music industry or the general consensus is focused on music artists receiving support. This is so far from the truth as people sometimes forget about the music writers and bloggers. It's like they do not even exist. Though in actual fact they pour a tremendous amount of creativity into their art, just like the musicians and even more so at times.

"I think that today there isn’t enough music that makes people happy”, says Ollie Gabriel as he breaks onto the scene with this upbeat and soulful hit full of hope and defiance. 'Running Man' is an infectious song that begins with the bright chords of keyboards which reflect the feel-good factor of the singer’s vocals which are rich timber and full of raw emotion. The electronic beats feel like the listener is running with this talented star. Some of you may be familiar with this tune because it has featured on ads, MTV, NBC and TNT.

PRECEPT is an exciting new British electronic artist who he has just released his new EP 'Absence'. With his orchestral music being featured on TV screens around the world, Precept decided to switch it up and blend electronic and alternative influences from which his 2016 debut EP 'Ghosts' was born which incorporated analog synthesizers and downtempo beats. And this year comes 'Absence' which Precept created fully himself from the composition, recording to mixing and mastering. Surging waves and floaty atmospherics with deftly layered vocals and rolling basslines wash over you. Hints of Precept's orchestral background peek through in various tracks...

The food and drink are on another level, from the signature drink, Fizu, upon arrival (sparkling sake, cucumber, and lemon oil), to my personal favourite, the Original Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Dynamite Shrimp. It is a little spicy but maintains a perfect balance. I also had the zingy Orange Peel Lamb Chop. There is a great dessert selection for those with a sweet tooth like myself. The Gorgonzola Cheesecake is topped with sour cream and gorgonzola crumb which gives it a slight tang but is nicely balanced out with candied walnuts and a delicious mascarpone filled port poached pear....

The summer holidays are just around the corner, and there’s nothing quite like the buzz of knowing that there are at least six weeks ahead of homework-free fun. However, with so much time on your hands, it can be all too tempting to lounge on the sofa, rather than doing something a little more energetic. Consider stepping away from TV for a few days and see all the amazing things around town to inspire you to get out n’ about!
