Former FBI Director James Comey has declared himself "not afraid" of President Donald Trump's Justice Department after being indicted Thursday for allegedly lying to Congress and obstructing a congressional proceeding.
"My family and I have known for years that there are costs to standing up to Donald Trump, but we couldn't imagine ourselves living any other way," Comey, who denies the allegations, said in an Instagram video. "We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn't either. Somebody that I love dearly recently said that fear is the tool of a tyrant, and she's right."
"But I'm not afraid," Comey added. Comey was indicted by a grand jury following a probe centered on whether he lied to Congress during his Sept. 30, 2020, testimony about his handling of the original Trump–Russia investigation at the FBI, known inside the bureau as "Crossfire Hurricane." The indictment also alleges Comey made a false statement when he testified that he did not authorize someone at the FBI to be an anonymous source. According to the indictment, that statement was false.
"My heart is broken for the Department of Justice, but I have great confidence in the federal judicial system," Comey continued. "I'm innocent. So let's have a trial and keep the faith."
Patrick J. Fitzgerald will represent Comey in the case and said his client denies the charges.
"Jim Comey denies the charges filed today in their entirety," Fitzgerald said in a statement. "We look forward to vindicating him in the courtroom."

I would make it clear to him he will be put into general population.
He’s not “afraid” because he is above the law. He can get away with anything.
Criminal Comey never stops. Many criminals do not stop until incarcerated or eliminated.
All the DOJ needs is one juror to unwaver from guilty and the jury will hang.
Repeat the legal process. Again and again.
Comey, hope you’ve got the $$$.

Yep. But it’s still worth indicting him. I seriously doubt he’ll be found guilty, but I would still like to see that SOB spend himself broke with legal fees.

As absolutely infuriating as it is, he will not spend one day in prison.
He might get dragged through the legal system for a while and spend some money defending himself (which will probably be paid for by some deep staters) but I’m pretty confident that’ll be the extent of his punishment.

lying mouth. he has no idea what was found in those burn bags. only the administration/DOJ prosecutors do.i don’t know if this is the best case to bring- or if this will be the last set of charges against him. i do know this will mean stress- sleepless nights- financial drain -all affecting him and family. perhaps then he will feel what Gen Flynn felt. no, i have not found forgiveness in my heart.
Even if he’s convicted he’ll be sent to some ‘Country Club’ prison in the system somewhere............
If I were a Democrat, charged with a politically related crime, and being prosecuted in northern Virginia, I would not be afraid, either.
Oh, I forgot to mention that no one in the top tiers of Democratic leadership ever has to pay his own multi-million dollar legal fees.
