  • Condoleezza Rice supports selling out US Sovereignty via the Law of the Sea treaty

    07/17/2012 7:20:58 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 21 replies
I post this as a differentiator. You can find plenty of information about Condi and the LOST treaty during the Bush years, but it can be common for people to do what the administration they're currently involve with wants done, despite it being counter to what they believe. Or they've had a change of opinion over time. This is not the case in Condi's case, her position is clear outside of the Bush Administration. She does not support American sovereignty. Her opinion is her own. Time to Join The Law of the Sea Treaty (May 30th 2012) BY HENRY KISSINGER,...
  • Rush: Senates are people

    07/16/2012 4:03:16 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 8 replies
    Rush | July 16th
Today Rush made a rather profound observation without even realizing it: RUSH: "Of course corporations are people. What else would they be? Buildings don't hire people." Duh. Really? Yeah, last time I interviewed with that building it didn't do me any good. I interviewed with that desk and I could not get a response whatsoever. Yeah, and then I went and I talked to the White House. And the White House put out a statement. The White House isn't people. It's just a building. If corporations aren't people, how the hell can the White House be people? How can Congress...

Wall Street Journal ^ | July 16th | WSJ Staff
In a dramatic change, Republican governors — including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie — are supporting sales taxes on online purchases in an attempt to send more revenue to state coffers.
  • Linus Torvalds: Corporations are good for Linux

A tidbit buried within an hour long video: http://youtu.be/MShbP3OpASA At about 19 minutes, he starts talking about IBM, and how there was a drive to sell Linux. And he goes on to point out how easy to use interfaces just weren't a high priority until the commercial interests came in and did a lot of the boring stuff. They did Q and A. And other things he eludes to but doesn't specifically list. I point this out because I myself have run into a lot of the total anti-commercial venom from various people over the years, and that doesn't have...
  • Ted Cruz leads David Dewhurst in first independent poll of Texas Senate race

    07/14/2012 4:06:12 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 7 replies
    Daily Caller ^ | July 12th | Stephen Elliott
In a poll released Thursday by Public Policy Polling, former Texas Solicitor General Ted Cruz leads Lt. Governor David Dewhurst 49-44 in the Republican primary runoff for the U.S. Senate seat held by retiring Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. Cruz leads 59-36 among voters "very excited" about voting in the election. Dewhurst leads 70-20 among moderate voters. The PPP report noted that runoff elections are notoriously difficult to poll, but that Cruz' chances look good based on his lead in the poll and his substantial lead with voters most likely to vote in the election, the "very excited voters."
  • Van Jones: Romney Should Pick Condi Rice as VP and 'Watch the Obama Campaign Go Crazy'

    07/12/2012 8:00:18 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 70 replies
When the Roundtable discussion on ABC's This Week Sunday predictably turned to who Mitt Romney should pick as his running mate if he seals the Republican presidential nomination, former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones made an interesting observation. "You want to do something bold, put Condoleezza Rice on the ticket and watch the Obama campaign go crazy" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
  • Is there any evidence at all that Condoleeza Rice is a conservative?

    07/12/2012 7:43:45 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 67 replies
This is real simple. Is Condi a conservative? Or is she GOP-E? Is Romney (well, I know it's only rumors for now) going to pick Condi because she's black?......Is Romney planning on pandering? Or is there a long list of conservative, constitutionalist, limited government positions that Condi holds and I've just forgotten?
  • Judge Posner: GOP has gone 'goofy' (another republican is slamming us conservatives)

    07/06/2012 7:33:45 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 63 replies
    Politico ^ | July 6th | By WILLIAM BERGSTROM
A conservative federal judge appointed by Ronald Reagan said in an interview published Thursday that the Republican Party has gone “goofy” and that “these right-wingers who are blasting [Chief Justice John] Roberts are making a very serious mistake.” “I mean, what would you do if you were Roberts?” Judge Richard Posner, of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, told NPR. “All of a sudden you find out that the people that you thought were your friends have turned against you, they despise you, they mistreat you, they leak to the press, what do you do? Do you become more...
  • 1 week later, MittRomney.com still recommends judicial activist John Roberts

    07/05/2012 4:07:31 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 31 replies
As president, Mitt will nominate judges in the mold of Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito. These justices hold dear what the great Chief Justice John Marshall called “the basis on which the whole American fabric has been erected”: a written Constitution, with real and determinate meaning. The judges that Mitt nominates will exhibit a genuine appreciation for the text, structure, and history of our Constitution and interpret the Constitution and the laws as they are written. And his nominees will possess a demonstrated record of adherence to these core principles.
  • Should John Roberts be impeached?

    07/02/2012 7:40:05 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 101 replies
Simple enough question. We need to start using this option. He clearly brought the country closer to tyranny, and that in my view is an impeachable offense. Outside of "my view", his job is to uphold the constitution. He failed to do his job. He failed to protect the people. He failed to protect COTUS. He should be fired.
  • Are republicans who buy newspapers unpatriotic?

    07/02/2012 10:02:12 AM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 22 replies
(or some other form of direct payments, how about a TIME[or other magazine] subscription?) We got screwed by John Roberts and the SCOTUS on Obamacare. But not really. Roberts capitulated because he feared what the journalist chattering class would print about him. Page 2 of the story If you want to save America, defeating the media is job #1.
  • The mainstream media raised your taxes

    07/02/2012 9:53:18 AM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 6 replies
It's come out how Chief Justice Roberts totally capitulated to the Mainstream Media. While it may be said that the SCOTUS raised your taxes in affirming this ruling, now that we know what went on behind the scenes it's clear that the media is who raised your taxes. Roberts Switched Views to Uphold Health Care Law (Because of fear from what the media would report) Have you canceled your newspaper subscription yet? If you truely want to save the country, defeating the media is more important than even winning elections. This supreme court ruling proves it without a shadow of...
  • How would Henry David Thoreau respond to the SCOTUS ruling on Obamacare?

Ralph Waldo Emerson goes to see Thoreau, who is sitting in jail, and asks him "Henry, what are you doing in there?" to which Thoreau replies "Waldo, the question is what are you doing out there?".

  • The three "E"s of the GOP-E. What does the "E" mean? Here is what it means.

    06/18/2012 3:06:52 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 15 replies
I still get republicans who scratch their heads and wonder what "GOP-E" means. Show this to them. The "E" means: (1)Establishment. It really is _us_ conservatives vs THEM in the establishment. And I don't mean "established". Just because someone gets elected, yes, they get 'established' in their various positions and offices. But "The Establishment" is a specific group, they are the (2)Elite of the republican party. But why do we conservatives have so much disdain for the establishment? It's because they are (3)Enablers Of people like Obama, or Reid, or anybody else. How often do you hear someone like Pelosi...
  • Is Mitt Romney a marxist communist socialist?

Do you believe "progressive" is code language for "communist"? A lot of people here do. "Yes, I agree with that question". Some don't. "No, a progressive is not a communist". So then what say you about Mitt Romney, who has openly stated the very thing.(and his record shows the truth of his claim)
  • Linux Creator Loves MacBook Air

Low end mac ^ | April 27th, 2012 | Charles Moore and Dan Knight
In a lengthy email interview with TechCrunch's Scott Merrill, Linux creator Linus Torvalds allows that he's a bit baffled at how nobody else seems to have done what Apple did with the MacBook Air - even several years after the Air's first release. Torvalds pronounces the Air "special" and "ahead of its time", elaborating that he wants his office to be quiet, with the loudest thing in the room the occasional purring of the cat, and that when he travels, he wants to travel light, contending that a notebook weighing more than a kilo (2.2 lb.) is less than ideal,...
  • 20 Republican Senators are Still LOST at Sea; Please Sign the Letter ASAP and Do Your Job

    Redstate ^ | June 12th | checkmate2012
As another hearing is scheduled for this Thursday at 10:00am on the Senate floor and we get closer to a June vote on the Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST), I would like to call out attention on the remaining 20 Republican Senators that have not yet signed the letter to Sen. Reid which would block the passage of this bill. Yes I wrote about this few weeks ago in hopes that RedStaters would help prod their Senators into getting on board to stop this UN agenda. There has been some success since my last diary, probably due to your...

Here's a great way to reduce overhead and be effective at running a national organization dedicated to infringing on the gun rights of everyday people all at the same time... Have cities hire your people for you so that tax payers cover 1/4 of your people’s salary and benefits, pay for most of their operational costs, and finance all of their other resources! It also embeds your people as leaders in city government so that you don’t have to lobby there! Sounds like another conspiracy theory from the tinfoil hat brigade... Right? Back in March, while researching the repeal of...
  • Are establishment republicans signaling that they refuse to support Deb Fischer?

    05/25/2012 7:03:13 PM PDT · by Halfmanhalfamazing · 34 replies
There's a story on the national journal about how tensions are rising again between the party's establishment and Demint. Does this mean that the GOP-E is planning on doing what it did in 2010 - that is, not support every candidate we the people nominated? Let's examine this logically: Deb Fischer is up in the polls by 18 points, yet the republicans have still found some reason to go out and whine. Why? There's only one answer. They're sick of us conservatives thinking that this is a conservative party, and they don't like it. They want the good old by...
