I just received the very sad news that Michigan freeper Westlander has lost his battle with cancer. Joe died on March 4. I cannot express well enough how much I will miss Joe. His loss will be felt throughout the whole forum, and especially by those of us here in Michigan who have come to know him so well the last six years. The mitten board will not be the same without him. My thoughts and prayers are with Joe's wife, Pat, and his friends and family. May God bring them comfort in their time of need. Godspeed, Joe.

A grand time was had by all!

My Newfie/Lab cross will not allow me to trim her nails. She has tried to bite two groomers now, and the only success my vet had was with sedation--not cheap, when it has to be done every two months. I have tried every trimmer on the market, including the new battery powered models--nothing works. I've had Moxie since she was a puppy, and she has never been comfortable with anyone handling her toes. I'm at my wit's end! ANY suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I am aware that the mods are trying to limit the number of vanities appearing on the news forum, and I heartily applaud their efforts. I am posting this thread on the news forum because, right now, we are having a problem on the Michigan board which is affecting our ability to share local news with other MI board members. Here's what I know: In the last day or two, the optional state message board notification defaulted out-- those of us who had chosen the option stopped getting our state messages. We have tried reopting, but when we "click here,"...

I am having a very difficult time removing 12"x12" vinyl floor tiles in my kitchen.

On a recent thread--from the last week, certainly--a freeper posted a quote attributed President Reagan. In a nutshell, Reagan asserted that the Republican party had no need for moderates. It was a short and snappy quote, and I (stupidly, erroneously) thought I would have no problem committing it to memory. Those of you who know me can quit laughing now. Anyway, I did a google but realized it would take me hours of reading to come across the quote, so I thought one of you may be familiar with it. Any help you can give is most appreciated.

I doubt if I'll be able to post this tomorrow...

I'm posting this thread to see how much interest there is in having a bird lovers ping list--wild birds specifically, but I have no objection to domestic birders as well. I'm pretty lousy at finding threads that may be of interest, but I don't mind keeping the ping list. While we're at it, why not take a few minutes to share bird-attracting tips with each other? This is a great time of year for watching and attracting birds to your yard--for me, at least. I always have better luck with fall migration than spring.

We've gone over the truly awful, how about the truly good films--especially those which many of us have never heard of?

Yes, it is my birthday. I am 36. I prefer Waterford but I'll settle for cash, if that's all you've got laying around.

Yes, I am logged in and my beeber is properly stuned. All of a sudden, instead of having each individual thread listed in the various forums, I have every single comment running consecutively--every one of 'em that is being posted. What have I done and how do I make it stop???

THIS THREAD IS INTENDED FOR READERS THAT HAVE COMPLETED THE BOOK! If you have not yet read the book, consider yourself warned: There will be spoilers on this thread. For my fellow FReepers who have no intention of reading the book but would like to discuss the more controversial issues related to the work, I am asking you as politely as I can: DO NOT HIJACK THIS THREAD. We are all members of this forum and as such, it is not up to me to disallow anyone from participating in the discussion. That is why I am asking you--please do...

Just a simple question for my FReepin' frineds: What is the best way to intentionally shrink 100% cotton? I was given two summer dresses for my birthday, both of which are about 1/2 size too large. They are 100% cotton with a pretty tight weave--almost denim to the touch. The directions say to wash cold, tumble dry warm. Help!

My "swan song" thread was going to be sort of an introduction: I was going to post a little autobio so you could have a rough idea who has been running this thread for the past year. I realized a couple of things: Most of you already know me; those who don't, well, I guess Friday the 13th will be a lucky day for you; and a thread featuring yours truly would have EVERYONE running off to do errands or whatnot. Instead, I'm going to tell you a little about how work went for me last night. There should be...

I am hoping that we can discuss a broad range of weaning, not just the ol' "breast to cup." What are some methods you employed to wean your children from the crib into the "big kid's bed?" How and when did you wean your child out of the afternoon nap? From diapers to underpants? In other words: What are some ways you have gotten your kids from Point A to Point B? I know, that is a pretty broad subject. Be as specific as you like or feel free to offer advice in general terms. If you have a child...

Dual topic thread today, folks: What are your plans for summer vacation? Do you have any special trips on the calendar? Can you suggest some family fun for the rest of us, something which your clan enjoys? and...Who would you like to take over the reins of this thread? FFT began on May 14 of last year, here. As many of you may recall, it started out as a thread just for moms but quickly evolved to include the entire family. "Setting the table" has been great fun for me, but after a year I feel it is time for...

It is a topic we have done before (yet again!!!) but who couldn't use a little relaxing, fluffy conversation? What is something that you do, just for you? Occasional manicure? Six-pack of Guinness? Annual hunting or fishing trip with Dad? A nice, long soak in a nice, hot tub? Antiquing? Is there any indulgence you would like, if time and money allowed? A trip to Europe, perhaps, or piano lessons?

Has everyone filed their taxes? Its that time of year again--the snow has melted, the days are getting longer, it is finally spring! If you're like me, that means it is time to deep clean the house. I no longer have an excuse for not cleaning the outside of the windows. It is finally warm enough for me to take down the Christmas lights and wreath. Time to pack up the parkas, ice skates, hats and gloves. It is also tax time, a great time to deep clean the paperwork that has accumulated over the past twelve months. Do you...
