Apparently our merchant account company that we've used for 28 years or so has either merged with or has been bought out by another company. We missed an important email from the company, and important deadline, because we thought it was somebody fishing for information.
But at any rate, our account has been turned off. Whether this is temporary or permanent, we have no idea at this time. We can't seem to get a hold of anybody by phone. We did have someone (actually a bot) in a support chat room, but as soon as they found out we wanted help with our merchant account, they cut us off and told us to call back Monday. So our credit/debit card donation system is down at least until tomorrow, or possibly later if we have to sign-up with a different company.
Fortunately, our PayPal system still works, and of course mail-in donations still work fine.
By the way, it seems you don't need to have a PayPal account to use this feature. You can donate by debit or credit card on the PayPal page.

Thank you all very much, and God Bless you.

AND tomorrow is a HUGE holiday! (/S)
This is very interesting to me.
Here in MA, there is a ‘Middlesex Bank’, a state-bank that has now grown to take on some characteristics of the larger national banks. It was closed on Friday at 2 pm for “Technology Upgrade”. Nothing of substance has been put forth for what changes a customer may see when things reopen ostensibly on Tuesday.
With FR having an issue with weekend closure like mine I just have to wonder what is afoot...
In the past, with banks striving for 365 days of openness and near zero downtime, I’d expect to see bank access be unavailable, say, from midnight to 6 AM. Here we have the better part of 4 days of being down, which if not unprecedented, is highly unusual.
I went throught half a dozen mergers in the banking business. Columbus Day weekend is one of the best times to do a major software conversion. The reason is obvious if you think about it: It’s a three day seeking during a part of the year when people are not traveling a lot; they are not shopping for Christmas; and there are no huge school vacations.
Therefore, you have three days to get the new system in place, and a day to recover if something goes bad.
Not EVERY bank does this all the time, but we did it a lot. It’s the only way to take a system off line without HUGE disruption to customers.
It’s not a conspiracy…it’s pretty normal.
(PS: You are not likely to see any differences at the retail level, most of these changes are back office systems.)
Good time to switch to Bongino’s processing company.
Hunter Biden, pick up the black phone.
so, it's not anything like QFS then.
At Middlesex Bank?
I was quietly thinking they were finally getting rid of the abacus and the counting house. LOL
Please keep us updated.
Credit card on file has been super convenient for me.
qlink/tmobile

I LOVE that! :)
This won’t effect my monthly donation; I always send you a big stack of unmarked bills every month! ;)
Our credit union also went offline unexpectedly a few days ago. Customers have lost online access to their accounts via computer. The CU emailed us to say they’re working on it, expect to restore service soon. Recently, they also went through a merger with another CU...
On Oct 3rd:
Bank of America was having problems with accounts across the USA.
This is what I saw at 4:55pm pacific

Anything different?
Nothing that I can tell for sure.
